Rail help/tips

A couple tips: try to center yourself over the rail and put it right under your boots. Balance is key. Go fast too when you hit it and you’ll slide better. Best tip would be build one out of PVC in your backyard and learn off that. PVC slides a little slower than metal so you’ll be able to understand what you’re doing wrong and correct it. That’s how I taught myself.

Tips- LOOK AT THE END OF THE RAIL - this is key,

Try to jump and rotate 90 on, rather than shiftying, or hitting it more sideways

Flat bars are definitely easier though

The best way to learn to balance on rails is to keep your speed up, don't land on the rail too hard, look at the end of the rail and keep your shoulders parallel to the rail by keeping your chest closed. You can do these tricks to learn to do it but the only way to learn is to do it as many times as possible and don't be afraid of falling because worst case you'll bruise your hip and every skier has been there. Good luck on your rail journey I wish you luck.

Literally watch your tips clear the rail as you pop onto it. If you are sliding off the left, lean more to the right vice versa. Its also way easier with more speed. Keep ur knees bent w forward shin pressure too

I’m only just starting rails now i spent a couple hours on them yesterday but I can’t seem to get it. I either don’t pop enough onto the rail but get the turn right or I don’t pop enough yet get enough of a turn. I’ve also been told I keep my skis too close together when I pop on. Any advice?

Go straight at the rail with a slight angle, pop hard, then rotate 90 degrees and try to keep the rail directly under your bindings. You’ll start to learn how to balance over time

Get to the point where you can do a 90 onto a box without thinking or looking at the lip.

Think of jumping onto the rail and doing the 90 degree rotation as putting your skis onto the rail instead of jumping.

Going slightly faster than you would be comfortable going into a rail.

Look at the lip before you hit it. 2 feet before the rail keep your eyes on the end of the rail.

When I first learned rails down rails were the easiest.

Speed, look at the end, rotate all the way on, don’t carve too much onto the rail otherwise you’ll just end up sliding off the opposite side
