Rail, Box, Jib ideas for the upcoming season

Eclipse Snow Park is interested in hearing from newschoolers about innovations you would like to see in the park.

Please thread a few ideas for new rail and box designs you haven't seen that you thought would always be fun to try. Also, if you have any good ideas for new jib features as well we would appreciate those.

Besides having the normal rail and box designs we want to push snowriding to a new level. If we get some ideas that fit well with what we are trying to accomplish up here we will give the designers credit for it. We'll name the feature after you.

Drawings are always welcome. You can send them to info@eclipsesnow.com

where is most of your stuff goin to be? I was up there when berman was there and you guys had the water tanks setup. I was insterested in how you were goin to go about it? down the run we snowmoed up? The quarter pipe you guys build was an interesting idea, sick background and such, but you would have to do some work with it to make it feeseable.

oh and i have a few shots you might be interested in, i'll send ya an email

vertical box like at the orage masters last year, upside down rainbow rail, to gap, to another rail

When we were up there with Berman we only went to the bottom of the main vain. That couloir continues to widen for almost 3/4 mile up from that spot. I don't know if you had a chance to see that stuff. Basically it flattens out a little up above opening into about a 70 acre garden that we plan to populate with rails, boxes, chrysathemum, daffodills, and garden gnomes... etc.

haha put some daises in there too... so when u say couloir and vein, i assume that that is a glacier u are talking about? which is sick, but anyway, get a line of 4 jumps all 50 feet each... then one big step up jump, then any and every rail/box u can think of... if there are rocks and streaks of dirt in the glacier, build gaps and rails over them... like on hood...

There was a thread made a little while ago called "Unique Jib/Jump Features" that had some really cool ideas from people. Heres the link to it:

https://www.newschoolers.com/ns3/web/forums/readthread.php?cat_id=1&thread_id=210387&page=1&

Here are the ones I supplied to it:

This is like a quarterpipe to stall. There is a block of snow behind it in case someone falls, or for butters and tail taps off the logs.

A Quarterpipe extravaganza. Lots of possible lines, but a little advanced for most riders. Still, it would make an excellent feature to hold a comp. in.

Another quarterpipe-stall feature, this time using a chair from a chairlift.

I have no idea. The mushroom is like a box that you can hit from any angle. The middle one is a table with a box as the takeoff. The front one is a multi feature thats like a c-rail under a sort of urban drop. You go off the top and gap the rail or hit the rail and go around. Meh.

rollertunnel8lf.jpg

I really like lofty rollers and step ups because you get lots of airtime with little risk. The jump here has about 6 inches of lift, but the slope is made so you're always about 2 to 1 foot above it for around 40 or so feet. The box is just a c or a u that goes through the jump, i know its impracticle, but hey.

A wallride on a chairlift pole. Almost every park has a chair going through it, why not just build a little QP for some fun?

Yeah, its like the tree stall in "WAR", but two of them, 7 or 8 foot gap between with a rainbow rail between the two trees, making a mandatory clearance level for anyone trying to air it. I really don’t expect to see anything like this just hanging around in a park, but maybe some film crew might eventually do something like this.

That’s all I’ve got for now. Hope your park building goes well!

Whoops, heres the last two, now with working pictures:

u should build an actual spine, like in skateparks, almost vert on both sides, and huge... u should also have one or a few just ridiculous rails that maybe 1 person gets a year, but safe enough that people can try every run... like a 100 foot quad kink, or a quad S rail or a roller coaster to dfd... crazy shit...

at the bottom of a hill build up a little hill of snow with like an up-flat rail going up the mound of snow. Then on the mound of snow but an up box with a flat, not slippery section at the top so when u get up there u can like stand on it and jump off and spin onto the up box (now a down box), then have a down rail or something coming off the mound of snow, i'll draw a picture if i get around to it.

Do you mean the box parallels the up rail so you get off the rail at the top when you run out of steam and come back down the box in the same direction you came in?

Another idea thats been bouncing around lately in my head. Its a three way box with three different takeoffs, though it could be done with just one massive broad one. The left is a S-box, the right is a C-box while the middle is essentially just a platform that you could slide like a butter box untill you reached the half-rainbow at the end. The rise would pop you up and give you some good airtime off the end. I would also design the middle section so that rides can maybe do a butter 270 on the flat, hit the up and be able to continue spinning off the end.

i think a huge roller like that one guy said but like 60 feet and you just fly into the bitch and get like 4 feet high but have just huge hangtime that would be sick and people would try crazy stuff cause the risk is lower and my other one i forgot h/o well i cant think or it but snow boxes are always a blast i love them like rainbows and c boxes and flat ones oh yea and the last one is like a rail up to a big stall or tip and then rail back down again would be super fun stuff

I agree, huge rollers would be massivly fun. I would love to see someone pull off a huge switch rodeo over one, it would be so weird to see the ground only like 2 feet below you the entire time.

big rollers are so sick and u could try some thing like a massive roller that has a huge flat box like last years masters on top for some crazyness

A pyramid shaped wall ride would be pretty sick where you could gap over the top and slide down one of the edges or the flat. Maybe a 200 ft long box. Idk that'd be fun though.

yea i was thinking it would be too hard to make/transport a 200 foot box or rail... but 4 50 foot flat boxes in a row would be sick... and with little urban jumps every little bit so if you fall off you can get back on... and yea, def a double S

Thanks guys and gals. I got some great ideas out of this. I'll keep you posted. If you want to keep posting ideas I'll keep checking it every couple of hours.

i know some people would say it'd be weird but i was just thinking about this stuff. they should have an S-box with the end slanting up and then a gap to another S-box if you know what i mean. so the first S-box shoots you onto the next one. it'd be mad hard tho

an x rail. it's two up-down rails put together at the middle, so it makes an x rail. You could make it a box too as long as you made the place where they meet flat.

I don't know what to call it, but it's too rainbow c rails in opposite directions put together to make another x rail, but you could hit it as a rainbow s rail or a banked c rail. You could also make this a box too.

Then you have a swingset rail or rainbow that go over an inverse rainbow that goes perpendicular to the rainbow. You could make it a box too.

I should make drawings of them at some point.

How about a hip jump with a rail or box on the landing? I've never seen one, and I think it would be pretty cool.

a big large skate type bowl with lots of little rollers and kickers for speed like in a snowboard movie trailer not shure wich one though

i just looked at my mouse and thought what about a box like that. It goes form like a rounded shape and into like a flat sorta rainbow shape. you could build like a semi circle take off around it and maybe a big gap over the semi circle and onta the flat and maybe a streetgap over every thing.

ill post pics soon

yeah that skatepark thing was pretty cool.

that teaser in general was pretty fuckin sick. The double front flip nose grab was awesome, and alittle more than 1/2 way through some guy does the sickest wall ride i've ever seen.
