I think lots of people now are calling rap, raggae. I can kind of see it with todays music, but if you go back to the roots of raggae, like Desmond Dekker...their nothing a like.

theres a natural mystic flowing through the air if you listen carefully now you will hear. its the first trumpet calling. might as well be the last. many more will have to suffer many more will have to die dont ask me why. things are not the way they used to be.

i don't know anyone that calls rap reggae but if i did i would bitch slap them

they are sort of similar sometimes but are clearly different. Kardinal Offishal has moments when he sounds like reggae, and moments when he sound like a rapper.

ya i've never heard anyone call rap reggae, but if someone does they should be shot, reggae is about living and being mellow and having a good time. rap is about bitches and money

not all rap is about bitches and money just the worthless (c)rap you hear on the radio and mtv. there are far more hiphop artists out there than you may think and many of them don't sound like those fucktards nelly and puffy and all those fucking morons. listen to jurassic 5 (even though they are super mainstream now) if you want killer hiphop that you can still relate to. as for this whole rap/reggae thing there are definitely some rappers who kind of have a jamaican sound (ragga) to them and that might be where the confusion is coming from

rap is definatly different than reggae and people r dumb and dont know the difference

jigga say wha??

okay, well another thing i have noticed.

people who like rap a lot say they really like raggae too, just because the musics both made by black artists. kinda annoying at times.

Me: Yeah, all the hicks and stuff in are school make in the hallway its gross.

Sisters bf: Well, they don't care. Their not leaving town, their just like 'Fuck it.'

Sister: Yeah, thats how i feel about law school right now, 'Fuck it, make out in the hallway.'

rap is dre, reggae is marley, reggae rap is sean paul

'Little girls are a farmers dream..... Flat land and no bush.'

rap and reggae the same, no definelty not. True reggae has nothing to do with rap. Gay shit like sean paul might have a reggae sound but its not reggae. Bob marley Eek-a-mouse Peter Tosh etc are real reggae. Then there is rap like ludacris nelly 50 cent etc which is gay and mainstream and really has no meaning. Real rap is about good emcees that have meaning in there rap/hip hop like Binary Star, Aesop Rock, J5, Grits. There music actaully means something and has power in it check it out its actaully good and not gay like Mtv shit.

'Oh my god. it happened again! i got better looking' Boyd

yeah. theres no way rap and ra ggae are alike at all in my point of view.

Listen to Desmond Dekker, Toots and the Maytals, Bob Marley....

Then even listen to Sean Paul.

they are nothing alike.

Eek-A-Mouse is dope! Jimmy Cliff is the man. Bob of course. Sizzla, Toots & the Maytals, Steel Pulse, Burning Spear, etc...

I enjoy hip hop and reggae.

I'll agree with all the above... rap and reggae are two very different genres.

However, it's interesting to see that a lot of musicians nowadays have combined aspects of both... in Germany it's called 'ragga'... imagine a guy rapping, rasta-style, to a fast reggae beat. It's kind of cool because it's brought a new genre of music to all the hardcore rap people. The only artist that I really know of is Gentleman, if you want to check that out.
