Rage films?

I think its true for many types of entertainment including films that to entertain the audience you have to captivate them with a build up and a climax. Thats a general way of putting it, but imo Rage Films really hasn't done this to extent that at the end of a segment a viewer really got what was going on. Thats why i cant remember half of the amazing tricks in the movie. That could also be why rage films has really good trailers, intros and outros because you dont need a climax in those, just a good feel, good tricks/shots and good music. Rage Films is really good at bringing those qualities to their movies and trailers, but they aren't going to entertain their audience as much as they could without some structure to their movie. An example of this lack of climax is in cosco's edit. It still was amazing, but the ending shot was a long 4 kink with a bs switchup while the second last shot was the famous double cork 12 into pow. They were both amazing shots, but i think we can all agree that the double cork is a more technical trick. Why wasn't it shown last? There is nothing wrong with having a "banger" trick at the end of a segment, thats all part of making a climax. Its not that these two shots being switched ruined the movie for me, there were many other factors including the lead up to the ends of segments and how the music followed with the build up of the climaxes. In the end I found this was a pattern throughout most of the movie. Thats why surprisingly few people cheered at IF3 to one of the most progressive tricks of the year.
Another example that i should just throw out there is the last trick of the movie (before the credits) was pretty amazing, definitely a worthy banger (i guess i shouldnt ruin it) and it was into powder. The main problem with the shot was right after it, during a shot of kyler being stoked, the music picked up to the chorus for almost a second before the movie cuts out to the beginning of some epic credits. This segment pretty much had the climax idea as far as the shot sequencing goes, but what about the music part? People again were not as stoked in the movie theatre as they should've been because they had no clue that was going to be the ending or that the ending was near. If that part had instead ended while some crappy hardcore rock song reached its booming climax, even though most people would be like "im not a fan of the music", they would still be cheering.
Such is Life had some of the best riders out there as well as some of the best shots of the year. It took me a while to figure out why I wasn't as stoked by this movie as I should've been. I had felt the same way at the end of Enjoy even with its epic outro, but i had never really thought of why. Does anybody agree or disagree with this? Also by the way I'm not hating, I'm discussing.

I thought Such as Life was awesome and really enjoyed it. Dont hate on me for what i have to say though. but like with normal movies the ones i feel like watching again are the ones i dont remember how they ended

yeaa but rage films are the type of movies that you can watch over and over and not get bored. example just watched booter crunk again last month to get hyped for the season, forgot about some parts and that made me even more siked.

I feel like your thinking about it waaayy too much plus, imo, rage didn't edit such is life very well at all...

i liked closing my segment out with the 4 kink shot....that shit took forever, the double cork took 2 tries and if youve seen the trailer it would be cliche to close with that imo. i thought it was funy that the trick that got the most cheers at if3 in my segment was a super wide box in the park at shasta. that also didnt take any time at all, i had to do it twice because the shot got messed up. the 2 tricks that i worked the hardest at and took the longest were the 2 on pretz 4 and the backswitch up on the quadkink. just my thoughts from a riders perspective.

I liked Such Is Life a lot, the music kinda sucked but the skiing was very good and so were the riders. I think you are over thinking Cosco's part way too much. Who cares if the cork 12 was second to last. Everyone was waiting for THAT trick, and they did lead up to it because they timed it well by showing a blur of 4 or 5 clips and then showing the cork 12 and kinda slowing it down. (Confusing as fuck, but if you watch it you'll get what I'm talking about.) btw one of the sickest segments ever was the Jackson hole segment with Cooley and Natale.

i have seen enjoy literally 50 times and never get bored. such is life was really good but you have to be in the right kind of mood for it. yadada boo boo?

not trying to claim. just trying to give a riders perspective of this guys opinion. its just funny how sometimes the easier things get a better response. at freshtival this weekend the most cheers in jacob's segment was his 180 over the roller where he like daffy butters. forget about how hard he stomped that double cork 12, or how close he was to stomping a HUGE 9 off that cliff. his shit was sick and that 180 daffy got the biggest cheers. i do not understand the average veiwer haha.

Ive been watching Enjoy so much recently, its one of my favourite ski movies, so many banger tricks and shots, plus the editing is fucking awesome imo.
