for one thing, i deffinitly thingk we progressed from snowboarding. A hell of a lot. The only thing i dont think we have matched, is their concept of stype over hucking your meat in a comp. I think skiers need to get up with shit that flows, and not a 12 that wins. I still do we take snowboarding style, that isnt no secret, most freeskiers look up to snowboarders, it just how it is.

i think that if it was going to be one thing that would put us over the edge of snowboarding, it would have happened a year or 2 ago (cork 810 to rail, switch 9 chads, ext.)...its gnna be hard for someone to pull something more ahead of the times other than that....wats gnna pull us ahead of snowboarding is that snowboarding has already plataued(sp?) and is no longer the cutting edge sport it once was..today u see snowboarding in drink adds, tv shows, ext. so baiscaly, snowboarding used to be the rebelious sport, now it is kinda the conformist sport..if u wanna be cool like the people on Laguna Beach, u gotta snowboard...wat will push skiing over snowboarding will be when we reach the next level of exposure (which could possibly come in the 2010 x-games) which will push us far enough into the lime light that kids wanna ski, because we r the new hot shiat. skiing will be the sport that ur friends all know about that has the "rebeliousl/cool" aspect, just like snowboarding had however many years ago. Unfortunetly, as soon as that happens, the big names will try to get their chubby hands on us. once they have us in their grasp, skiing will head to where snowboarding is now, and fast. So, unless we stay completely true to the core companies who arnt part of the insane grid of buisness ownership, things will be differnt. but ya know, change is inevitable...they say life is alot like icecream, u gotta enjoy it while its still cold, thats why i go skiing, to keep my icecream cold.

the thing i like about skiing pposed to boaring, is how less exposed it is.....er, well if you get that, i like how its not huuuge, i kinda got scared seeing mcdonalds adds in freeze, but it wasent much. When skiing gets to be more for "being cool" then being out with your friends and shit i quit. So yea i hope that never happens.

iono, i find it extremly painful when people question me about skiing, and even though i find snowboarding to be superior than skiing in many aspects, it just runs chills down my back to have to say "its like snowboarding, but on skis"

^yeah, i see so many 8 year olds with team troublemkers, and so many 40 year olds with tweaks now days, its scary. and they just, mess around. so, slowly, we're becoming the "in" thing to do, but like was said in some quote that i dont remmber the origin of, we can never become skating, because skiing isnt as accessible

i think personaly that snowboarding is straight up style, like huge 180s make a movie part instead of a huge 9 or somthing, its crazy, and skiing is gettin there, but right now its all about cork 10s and 1000 switch ups on urban rails, and its cool and shit, but i think skiing is gonna be like snowboarding soon, and maybe snowboarding will be different at that time, but skiing def has its own flair and i think this thing with snowboarding vs skiing will always go on, but skiing is goin in the right direction.

Skiers are ahead of snowboarders on rails for sure. One thing is for sure-skiers have progressed more in the past few years than snowboarders.

sure the 810 was sick dont get me wrong, i think that i would wayyyyy rather see a small smooth spin, say 450, or 270, Sure it is progresive, but i dunno, it looks like, oh hey hes whipping himself for like 3 feet to bang a rail.

When candide and whoever else just just hit the rail like its in there way through a nine, ill be really impressed. Just looked like he hit it.

Its high risk but could a guy who can cork 9 just do it and hit a rail?

anyway, i do agree with whoever said that, snowboarders deffinitly sick with butters. They make that aspect, the smooth, and stylish, like we are getting into.

id kinda like to see the tricks guys do in movies at a comp. It would be cool if there was a real, urban comp or something, like you can only spin a 5 max.

but i like where skiing is going, its going with style, witch makes me feel warm

alright so i just hopped onto this gangbangin good time..im not sure how much of this discussion i missed but i figured i throw my own two cents in the bucket....In my opinioni think that in the rail scenario that the sport will follow its own path...i think that there is only so much tech spinning on and off you can do..i think that after 540 sw ups start happening etc. that more basic mellow tricks will become more popular...frankly if you figure think about following the progression were at currently...after 5 years of this things will just be retarded...i think that rail shit will eventually get to less spinning and more pressing and "revert" "pretzel" "silly" whatever you want to call it type shit...i think the same holds true for jumps...i dont think the spins will get much bigger...i dont think anyone will be doing cab 16 opp mutes...i think things have started to plateau (sp?) and that it is now time for the progression to turn to style rather than the spin to win mindset...anywho im rambling but yea...long story short...less tech..more style...yarrr

the thing is though, he didnt do it over 3 feet like you say, he did it over a ~50 foot gap, and it is way harder than just doing a cork 9, that took insane balance and air sense. that being said, i dont think it was really a turning point of any kind, even though it was amazing.

my take on the unnatural shiz is that yea it is towards the style side of the spectrum...its a way to make tricks more difficult without adding a 360 sw up...a smooth unnaty sw on 270 is a more difficult trick and a result of progression, but it doesnt take more spinning etc...same with jumps...a cab right five all smooooove like is progression for sure...and its defanitely style wise..rather than taking that cab 10 to cab 14 etc..
