I am not saying everyone has been silent. Thanks for not being silent. But I know that there are alot more that are not saying what we believe and so all of these stupid myths pop up without anyone saying that they are all bullshit.

Gdawg has got some messed up ideas, I don't know where he's getting his info from, if it is those books, dude find accurate sources.

this is retarded... i cant believe how ignorant you people are. if all mormons are racists, than they are just as racist as every catholic. mormans consider themselves chrisitans, 'true' christians dont believe them to be christians though.

Okay fine, I guess I'm just wasting my breath. To be honest, I'm an atheist and I truly believe religion to be the root of all evil in the world today, you all can see that for yourselves if you think about it rationally for a moment. And for everyone else reading the thread, think for a moment why a mormon would admit those things, it would just show how far out of the christian mainsteam they are. There has been a concerted effort on the part of the Mormon church to portray itself as Christain, which it distinctly is not.

And by the way, I didn't say that these are all things the church teaches today--I said that these are things they have taught in the past at some point. That's the reason that there is a town in Utah named Kolob. Read up on your history all you good little mormons on this site, you might just learn what a retarded, self-serving, dangerous entity the Mormon church really is.

We have an old saying down on the bayou....Blehhhhh!!!

Living in ignorance is one thing that many mormons have in common. They study the teachings of thier church, but they take everything they're taught as fact without questioning. Many of the people I went to also went to the mormon seminary during school, basically a religious class, and would come back the next hour with some new reason as to why their religion was more right than what I beleive. I'd ask them why they believe what they do, and not one of those time did I ever get an answer better than they were told to. That's my biggest problem, how can you believe what you're taught as fact without questioning it? I gave up on that, most of the people I knew were born into mormon families, all their parents had temple rights, sealed marriages, had done babtismal for the dead, confirmed, etc, etc... It's all they know. But what gets me is those who convert into the religion. I talk to mormon missionaries regularly, I can pass as a mormon with my knowledge, and I can't see how what those guys say can get someone to see what their saying is so atttactive as to convert to a relgion that mandates a weekly 10% tithing to remain in good standing with the church. If you've ever been to SLC you'd see where that money goes... Oh well to each his own, I don't go trying to convert people, I just wish I wouldn't have to have them tell me how right they are so much.

Of course we question it. i have questioned it my entire life. every time i realize to an even greater extent that it is true. anyone would who would just listen with an open mind and without a predetermined impression of the church being false. we believe many plain and simple truths that many people will refuse to accept, not because it's wrong, but because they have a wrong opinion that they shouldn't want to.

and to GDawg, from a few posts ago. how can you say that religion is the root of all evil in the world? that is the most illogical statement on this site in a long time, and that is saying a lot. Where do you think most of those tithing payments go to. i can assure you it isn't the church leaders' pockets. there isn't a single organization in the world that i can think of that performs more charitible service and gives more aid than the LDS church, but i guess all the peeps who are out there bashing us didn't tell you that did they. it's also the fastest growing church worldwide, by far, because when people are exposed to it without a negative predispososition, they can see the amazing amount of truth and righteousness in it. feel free to bring on any disputes you have with what i've said, and i will be happy to answer everything that i can. of course i don't know everything, but i can bet that between me and the other mormons on this site, we will prove that almost everything you can think of against our beliefs is wrong, with cold, hard facts to back it up.

heres a little excerpt from an old time magazine article. it was in 1997, so any figures have probably grown since.

If the Mormon Church were a corporation, that yearly revenue would place it midway through the Fortune 500, a little below Union Carbide and the Paine Webber Group, but bigger than Nike and the Gap

And as long as corporate rankings are being bandied about, the church would make any list of the most admired: for straight dealing, company spirit, contributions to charity (even the non-Mormon kind) and a fiscal probity among its powerful leaders that would satisfy any shareholder group, if there were one,'' the magazine said.

The story details just a few of the church's expansive holdings, including the world's largest beef ranch -- the 312,000-acre Deseret Cattle and Citrus Ranch outside Orlando, Fla. The ranch's land alone is worth $858 million.

The church also owns America's largest producer of nuts, as well as Bonneville International Corp., the country's 14th largest radio chain, and the Beneficial Life Insurance Co., with assets of $1.6 billion.

Time lists the church's assets as $12 billion in U.S. meeting houses and temples; $5 billion in meeting houses and temples in foreign countries; $6 billion in unspecified investments; $5 billion in ranch and farm real estate and $1 billion in 'schools, etc.'

heres somewhat of a list of mormons in politics, past and present.

mormans r just mindless drones when it comes to religous 'facts' just as anyone else who believes in a superior power and attends a congregation. this makes them neither crazey nor anything else.

fat people should avoid buffets

yeah they be stupid, this one mormon girl i know doesnt use tampons because she says they would take away here virginity. dumb da dumb dumb dumb, southpark gots the facts. thas why fort douglas the old fort which is now a part of the university of utah was the only fort in the US that was built to maintain Us citizens, had a canon pointing right at the tabernacle

^That's kind of a bad generalization... Pretty much every religion out there promotes questioning their doctrines, I know my church did and it was preacticed by many of my friends and myself. But I stated earlier that it seemed like questioning the churches teachings is not as widespread in Mormonism, there's got to be a reason for that. Anyway, the Idaho senator, Crapo, was a former class pres of my high school, and the Idaho congressman, Simpson is from my area as well, I think he used to be a dentist... But nothing stated up there surprised me at all...

skaski- thats a stupid argument because just sheer numbers in governmental positions doesnt mean that the church is in charge of our government. Just because there might be tons of catholics in congress doesnt mean that you accuse the catholics of government control and being freaky, or jews, or buddhists, or muslims, or anyone else for that matter. The church has always been politically neutral as well, in fact, before every election every church reads a statement that the church encourages members to vote by their hearts and that the church will never back any politician or party.

And another thing, our church has not and never will ask the members never to question whether church docterine is not true or not. everyone has to make that decision by themselves. We dont follow like blind drones. I have questioned it all the time and I have gotten my answer. So dont accuse me of following blindly either.
