ok so today in class we watched this video on racism in Canada and by the end i was ready to kill people! in Canada we believe that just because multiculturalism is part of our constitution, organized racism does not exist. sadly this is far from the truth. the most disturbing part of the video was to learn that white supremacy does exist in Canada in the for of the KKK. it showed images of over 200 klansmen at a conference in minden ontario burning crosses and chanting 'death to the jew'. being a white male, this really pissed me off to see that our society is succuming to these groups and that they can get their message out better than any company, religious organization or political party. what i would like to know is why can't these groups be controlled if not outlawed for their 'hate propaganda'. i am not an advocate of censorship but to what end is Canadian society going to let these people get away with this? if it comes to controlling what is acceptable on the internet i think i'd be all for it.

I watched something last year about the 'Heritage Front' in Canada. There is a large group in Ontario, but mostly they live in Calgary.

How could you be so ignorant as to believe that organized hate groups don't exist in Canada. Open your eyes. The examples are everywhere. The KKK had a significant impact in the earlier days of Vancouver, for example.

As weird as this will sound, racism doesn't discriminate based on borders. It's everywhere.

It's such an incredible minority that nobody worries about it. All you can do is not be a racist in your own life, be open minded, and maybe call people on it when they say discriminating things. Unless you're a reactionary, in which case, you have none of my sympathy.

i don't think it's semi-accepted by society. i just think people are playing the 'i don't want to believe it' card. they think that if they believe they don't exist then they won't. the websites for these groups are incredibly well done. last year i did a few assignments on groups like 'heritage front' and when i was through i found my self kind of agreeing with their message (until i actually realized what i was doing) they go out trying to make themselves look better in the eye of the public by bringing religion into the spotlight and getting you to believe that the bible says 'white people are superior'. one quote from a guy in the video was this 'we don't hate blacks, we're just proud to be white'. messages like that are what is helping them recruit young people into their ranks. now with all the hate crimes going on near toronto, i'm starting to wonder that maybe these groups have been more successful than we think.

regretfully that my friend is what society today has come too. dad works the 9-5 perfect job with the perfect wife and perfect kids. they often have barbeque's with their black next door neighbors etc. you get the picture. people just don't see the problem is still quite prevalent today which is sad. lucky for you though canada is more slack with it's laws then the united states is. we ignore racism to an extreme extent and spend like 2.5 billion fuckin dollars on finding and punishing drug users. its sad. seriously can you see the irony in taht?

The HF was handing out flyers at my high-school a couple years back. Their message becomes extremely clear if you attend (or watch on a tv as I did) a meeting, as the podium cover is a Swastika.

It was fucking brutal... The future leader (at least at the time) is a student at Queens / My Jewish friend wanted to go hunt her down and beat her fucking head in with a shovel.

i dont understand how you can hate someonewith out knowing them. well i guess if your strongly convinced that theyre all bad, but you would have to be sorta stupid to strongly beleive that a whole race of people are bad just because they belong to that race

Not many people are true racists. Racism is believing that one race is superior to another. People nowadays get that mixed up with discrimination. KKK and all those other wierd people are stupid racists. People don't have to agree with what they say. They have a right to say what they want, just as long as it dosen't interfere with other's rights.

 
Ofcourse racism is still present today, but having the goverment dictate what is hate speach is just plain stupid.

Hate crimes are stupid too. You shouldn't have charges against you for hate, because that isa thought and you can't know what people's thoughts are.

^^hate crimes are pretty easy to distinguish most of the time. most of the time hate crimes include vandalism with swatikas being painted at the scene. if someone is suspected of a hate crime(ie. assualt), the police can run background checks on the individual being accused and if there is even a small amount of a racist background, most likely the person will be charged with a hate crime

these groups are dying out and are proving to be just temporary inbred wastes of space. the only people they recruit are their kids because others realize how retarded they are. no offense meant towards retards.
