Racial profiling. NY Stop and frisk.

I did searchbar and nothing came up, also It's 8 days old on Youtube, and I hadn't seen anything on here of recent. Life goes on...

Also, police are no way near as corrupt as that here in the UK Not sure about the capital though.

This is fucked up. I'm not one to say "Fuck the police" because they're a necessity, but fuck the police who abuse their power.

In the case of this video, abusing their power in this context, it keeps the people in higher ranks off their backs effectively.

uhh yes, fuck people who abuse their power. This kid didnt give them a hard time at all and the pig tells him hes gonna break his arm? I dont know about you but I'd be pretty pissed if they pulled this shit on me too.

it depends entirely on the region/police department. If you want to be a cop in some hill town, it's easy. Cities/state departments...not so much.

New york for example requires a minimum of 60 college credits, or 2 years of service in the military.

I'm quite familiar with the process. You are correct about the base pay, but very few officers actually make the base per year.

fair enough. Agreed

I just didn't see the relevance in bringing up the requirements to be any cop when this instance involves a very specific department with it's own requirements.

Coming from someone who grew up in London, if you were between say 15 and 25 and you were going out, there was a good chance you were going to get stop searched, and if you were black the probability just increases 10 fold. It was pretty horrendous to be honest, but i have no idea what its like now.

So you did Sir. Apologies.

Also, ElGato, I in no way agree with arguing with the police, but this Alvin guy was barely being a dick. The police were definitely out of order in this case, and "the game" as you put it. Is definitely incredibly fucked up, but this gives an insight to it all, and my original point was. That it is an interesting and insightful watch.

The part that got me was when the anonymous officer was outlining how they had to keep topping their numbers from last month/year/whatever time frame their quota runs on. How are these departments judging where these numbers should be?

Crime is not something that can be graphed and extrapolated for future estimates, it either happens or it doesn't, so the fact that they're pushed to constantly get more arrests/summonses/stops is ridiculous.

If these numbers are taken into the statistics, it's no wonder NY's crime rate is on the rise..

the fact that you just called police jobs easily obtainable jobs is moronic. Please don't make claims that you obviously know nothing about. And the low paying part is partly right, but state police in my state easily make 100k a year with overtime and 10+ years on the job.

okay, maybe going through the academy is "easy", but getting selected is hard, especially for white males. Not to mention, many departments have policies on drugs and cognitive issues that will completely DQ you from employment. Some police jobs are easy to get yes, just as some business jobs are easy to get, especially ones through college co op's and stuff.

that kids looks like a punk, wouldnt be surprised if he did, but i think the recording is 100% real. Also, I learned today that NYC is the safest city in the western world.
