Racial Profiling is OK. Discuss.

in some cases it's just weird. A few years ago going through an airport, they decided to stop and search my family. And then we see a young muslim man, looking nervous, traveling alone walk by.

Now, it may seem wrong to some of you, but why would they stop the family of 4, returning home from vacation, and not him? Say what you want, but face it, 9/11 and most other terror attacks these days are not done by american families returning home from vacation.
 
It's perfectly ok and the only person, the ONLY person who will be offended by it is someone who is trying to hide something.

I have a cousin who is extremely Italian, and as a result look mildly muslim with some beard scruff, and they usually pull him aside at the airport. He says he doesn't care as long as it's an effort to keep this place safe, and that's the attitude everyone should have.
 
Racial profiling is fucking stupid. If we racially profile we are going to have to profile everyone and it makes it obsolete. Since 9-11 most hijackers have been white or not Islamic.

And now every white family living in the suburbs is a Russian Spy. It is just stupid, a way for lazy police to feel like they are making a difference when really the only thing that will correct the situation is doing the job.

You can't profile criminals because there is no profile for a criminal. You just have to do you job, but as I am sure most of you know police, TSA, and whoever else is in charge of stopping these people are either offensively stupid, inept, lazy, or on a power trip. I would say that 5% of law enforcement officials actually make a difference and do their job, and if they did do their job there would be no reason to profile anyone.

The product of freedom and security will always be a constant. I don't know about you guys, but I'm OK with a lack of security as long as I can be free.

african-american is an inaccurate term. there lots of white people who were born in africa, so not all africans are black and not all black people are american either. i just call them black.
 
your rite. at this point in time we are all just american. black, caucasian, hispanic. these are all governmental terms. not scientific terms. so yes if your from african no matter what the color of you skin is and you become a naturalized citizen then you can be considered african american.

what i was trying to show was that people base judgement too much on whatever word you call someone.

there was that thing in the news all the illegal mexicans are walkin around but america cant do anything about it so they brought up some law that allows officers to ask for citizenship on the spot and all the mexicans got pissed

He is actually making a pretty good point. Its a rather large and recent news story regarding racial profiling in America. It would be very easy to write a paper on the topic. Just because he didnt do all the research for the op doesnt mean hes a dumbass.
 
but saying that the OP should search "new law that got mexicans pissed" doesn't exactly make him sound like he knows his shit.
 
sometimes you don't have a choice...say youre walking around in LA in a sketchy area in compton, obviously a black guy or a mexican walking past you with his hands in his pocket are going to sketch you out a little if not a little, a lot.
last time i was in LA in the hood (last weekend) i saw some black kid snatch a white girl's cell phone right out of her hand and run across the street in traffic and back to his place. of course im going to profile after shit like that.
 
I've seen white dudes do way sketchier shit than that. I knew a white dude that called a drug dealer to come to his house then just stabbed him and took the drugs. I've seen a white dude throw a brick through a window for no reason. I better start avoiding white guys.
The color of your skin has nothing to do with the actions you chose in life, which is why racial profiling is fucking retarded and so is anyone who thinks its a good idea. Brown people in America shouldn't have to live in constant fear of being pulled over, stopped in the street pulled aside at airports for no reason. Thats what the nazis did? well idk about you, this seems like it might just be me but if i had to be searched based on no evidence other than the color of my skin, it would seem unjust to me. racial profiling is when someone is stopped because of the color of their skin. it doesn't mean that they were stopped because they were looking nervous or because they payed with only cash, no, it means that they were stopped because of the color of their skin. nothing else. i find that to be wrong. but don't get me wrong, i'm not opposed to stopping somebody who was like i said before, nervous or paying with cash or some other attribute. but to assume that someone is more or less dangerous based ONLY on the color of their skin, is wrong.

im half sicilian, and im super tan all the time, while leaving france in the charles de whatever airport, i was stopped 3 times, and each time they searched my carry on, it got a little annoying, but i really didnt care because they were just doing their job, and i guess i looked shady being dark skinned, wearing a beanie, and a hoodie, idk but whatever, racial profiling is fine with me if its keeping me safer as well as others
 
umm they caught in iraq in a ditch dug underground with a fan to ventilate the air nothing to do with racial profiling. Thats beside th point.I believe in racial profiling in a way, in my opinion racial profiling can be used just not as a sole factor in law enforcement. Now terrorism is different go ahead and racial profiling if it can protect the lives of millions of innocent Americans.God bless America

Because most of the places I go to would take months of travel if not for planes? I never really fly anywhere domestic but how are you supposed to get across the Atlantic Ocean?
