Racers

i was when i was like 5 and then i realized that baggie pants and shorter poles where better than tight suites and stiff ass race boots.

me too! 2 years ago I was in Doberman WC150's on Fischer RC4's i spent all my evenings waxing skis. Jibbing Urbans at night is way more fun.

Since you started a racing thread, I was wondering who you all think out of the pros would win a GS race? My moneys on Abma as he is such a solid all rounder.... discuss.

i was a racer for like 3 years but my parents took me out of it cause my coachs got annoyed that i always wanted to ski park or pipe

and ^ jon olsson would def win a race

never was a racer. but jon for sure would slaughter most people. mahre prolly could hold his own as well, its in his genes

i raced for two years and now i just do high school racing and it is the most fun varsity sport there is

i raced a few years back in the day. glad i did, gave me solid tech grounding for freeride/all mtn/big mtn skiing. racing is undervalued.

never a racer,,,

just didnt feel like doing dryland training and wearing skin suits when i could wear comfortable snow pants and jackets and ski wahtever i want

i did when i was like 9 but i always got pissed cuz everytime we had a big dump we would have to go practice and race gates all day.i did it for half a year a figured that it was not worth it.

I'm on the school team which is so tight, all our races are at the same hills as where the snowboarding team goes and last year there were a couple other kids with twins on the team. And I get to miss school to see, I don't mind turning around those gates for two runs if I get to ski all day.

my brothers a racer, and wants me to do it for highschool becuase it helps you out in the park alottt and you lkearn to ski alot better

free seasons pass too!

ive raced until present....i like it cus it gets you out on the hill everyday and then on the weekend its all freeskiing for me. 7 days on the hill is a good week.

my dad said when i was little i wanted to race but he wouldn't let me cause he told me it's gay and he'd rather teach me himself. sooooo happy he didn't, got just as good fundamentals of skiing, and had more fun doing it. wordddd

i am a racer...im on the highschool team...it does make you a better skier and it gets you out of school

i was about to get into racing. i took some "pre race" classes and started doing dryland stuff, then i realized i just wanted to go shred. then along came freeskiing, JEA!!!

raced for 7 years, switched to snowboarding then back to skiing. i still race skiercross and might get into masters racing next year.

GS winners would be Andy Mahre and Jon Olsson

I raced for about 5 years, it was a lot of fun. I still forerun for some races, its cool to get back in the gates. 99% of you that have never raced suck at skiing compared to a racer.

I don't know why people hate racers so much, at least they are skiing! Its like people who hate boarders, personally I think we should just feel sorry for them, that they chose the 2nd best option.

Loads of the English pro freeskiiers started off racing, a lot of them are now trained by Sharples, who also used to race.

Yea used to race a bit in high school, also raced at uni games..... never took in seriously though in that i never joined a race club or had a race suit to wear. still fun to hit the gates every now and then to do something different with skiing.

I race now. But the only reason I do it is because it is another chance to get out to the hill. I dont get many chances to get out skiing here in the midwest so why not sign up for racing to get out on the hill 3 more days a week eh?

I raced through HS, we didn't have a park team. A couple of years ago I coached a park team for one of the local schools, little groms are so lucky!

I raced for one week, and beat about half the kids on the racing part of my team, while at the same time beating 120 racers. 45th overall for the race, and I was like.... 13 lol. This is including J1s and J2s.
