Racers in the park?

One reason I quit racing is because the majority of people are so uptight and they always want you to work on particular things. Whereas when you're riding park, people are soo chill and you can do whatever you wanna do. But, I came from a racing background and went to JO's and all that, and it helped me develop a good background that I use in park today. I think it just makes your style a lot better when you don't have to worry about how to carve between hits.

Verry True there are so many ass holes in the park. They make fun of kids who r trying to learn how to like 3 and stuff how r these kids supposed to get good wen they get made fun of for learning?

ha ha ha its a great site to see, last year i was taking the park chair up when i saw some little fucker in spandex snake someone and way over clear the biggest jump in the park. the sound of him hitting the ground was nasty but i still laughed (i know I'm a terrible person) Ski patrol was there with the kid for the next 2 runs

when i first saw dane tudor skiing pow i asked him if he had raced b4 and he did.

you see it when someone raced b4 when u see him skiing pow

I used to race, I still coach for the Xmas camp for my old team cause I enjoy talking with the coaches. But being from Baker, we aren't even a true Ski Team. More like a group that races but still just wants to ski to ski. I mean, when the coaches show up with Seths, Pontoons, Hellbents, Rossi B4s and other fat skis on a powder day you know we aren't hardcore racers.

Some of the best skiers I know are racers or started out racing. A lot of skills in the park translate over from skills as a racer. It's about having the cojones to man up and really push yourself to learn new things in the park, and that's definitely something that most good racers have.

no matter who throws a penciled nine its pretty ugly. but im a racer well i race but i spend more time in the park (on my park skis dont worry) but racing just developed my skills and my coaches are pretty chill (they taught me how to flip) so not all racers are douches ya i admit alot of us are egotistical a**holes but not all of em

this thread is sad.. It just proves that the majority of NS is a bunch of little kids, i have met way more dicks sitting at the top of the park dressed as thug as possible and trying to act as hard as possible than i have on the top of a race course.

he had to quit though cuz his baggy pants and tall tee were like a parachute so he couldnt go fast enough...

i get paid to coach racing which = free membership = more money to spend on park related things= epicness nothing bad about racing imo

Actually when T Wall was younger he did race. We had NASTAR races n shit at this little mountain called Wisp in Western, MD and he raced there when he was pretty young.

It's more that the racers are doing stupid shit in the park than having bad attitudes. I have friends who race. I have met some deusch bags in the park though, fucking spoiled kids that go to Stowe Mountain School or whatever that is.

I have a friend that is a MAD good racer but then he goes and completely KILLS it in the park with no effort what so ever. He'll be like "Hey, I wonder if I can 2 on pretzel 4 out on this 8 foot long rail" then he goes and does it but bangs it out to like nothing.

they are both fun, thats why racers do both. personally the percentage of dirty racers that are able to throw down in park is alot greater than that of freestylers that can kill park AND actually ski well

Just because you race doesn't mean you can't go have fun in the park or in the backcountry and just because you ski park doesn't mean you can't go have fun bombing down a hill or ski the backcountry. There are so many different aspects to skiing and thats what makes it so fun, being limited to one takes a lot of the fun out of it. You got to mix it up sometimes.

So, because I didn't start out racng, have no intention to start, skied for 4 years, starting park this year, was pretty much taught by my dad(22 years experience) I'm considered to have poor form?

Not necessarily, but you are unlikely to be as good an all around skier as someone who has put in hundreds of days skiing on hard icy rutted snow at high speed. Racing is the best prep for skiing fast and smooth in all conditions. Racing teaches you how to turn, how to ski smoothly, how to work your skis etc.

Anyone that hates on racing is probably a pretty weak skier if you put them in shitty conditions and challenging terrain. ROFL @ the retard who skis 10 days a year thinking he is good at turning.

i raced for like 2 years juss for shits nd giggles. it made me waaayyy better and skiing but alotta kids were pretty faggy. the ones with twin tips were chill though.

and you cant beat the girls in those super tight racing suits :))

^im not saying if you have park skis your not a dusch..juss saying the few kids on the team that had em were chill. but im glad i juss do park now haha

Haha almost the same thing happened to me this weekend! Some bastard coach stepped on my skis and he got pissed at.me! He said I wasn't paying any fuckin attention to the line (I may have been able to move forward half an inch haha)

I can't hate too much cuz my dad's a race coach, but he is cool as hell.

racers are very cocky because their coaches tell them they can be-not in a literal way "you are better than everyone else" but through coaching i guess
