Racer Kids haters!!! Tell your story

well I don't hate on racer kids (mostly cause most of them are actually good skiers and most are forced into the sport by their parents, it's either that, or don't ski at all), but one thing I've notice at my home mountain is that the race team will trade their skis, wear their race gear (including bent poles) and go through the park, with no regards to flow or lines, just run though and hit the jumps and rails, even if theirs a line or someone has called drop in advanced. thats really the only think that bothers me with them. other than most of them are pretty chill.

some are douchebags, some are cool. same with park kids. no story here, don't hate, respect because every racer i know works their ass off and are really committed to skiing, just like me. different discipline, same lifestyle.

racers are usually in amazing shape, very committed and are technically fantastic skiers. One kid I know used to race and now skis park and is amazing because he is such a good technical skier.

If they call their drops and dont jump off the sides of the jumps to the rail I have no problem sharing the park with them, it is skiing after all.

I went to a mostly racer camp this summer and in the afternoons when everyone was seshing the tramp or whatever I would have never guessed they were wearing spandex earlier that day. They're not really any better or worse than your average person who skis a lot. I think what they are doing is more difficult than park skiing and they deserve some props for that.

I am proud to have forged a bond between my resorts racers and park rats that has led to no hate and much respect for one another. I do both, a lot of tha respect is because most of us park skiiers started out as racers. Cocky racers are tha racers i hate because they are total "i can buy this mountain if i want" and "i do what i want" attitude. shit's weak.

whatevs dude.. most racers kill it on skis. it takes skill. plus they wear hawt clothes. anti-gangster yah.

K this was like 4 years ago, when backflips for us were unheard super new to us. Me my brother and styne built a little jump in the early season because there was no park. So pretty much the racers were yelling at us calling us names and shit from the chair all day and it was soo annoying. I was doin some of my 360s (I was like 11, so dont hate). And I was having a good time, while trying to not to listen to the racers. THen styne outta nowhere throws a backflip off this tiny jump we had and the racers shut up instantly and stayed that way all day

i is a racer, and a park rat, do you hate me?

its fun cuz everyone on my ski team also skis in the park, some a them throw down. . . kinda.

I think that it has a lot to do where you live and what the racing club looks like at your mountain. At my mountain it is, Little ritch bitches rolling around in daddy`s cayenne wearing the best skin suit he could afford. Anyways, they are not that great of skiers, then again , depends on what mtn....

oh the other day though i ended up buy a racer on the lift so i was tryin to be friendly and asked her what ski team she was on and she was like.. "T-A-S!" which I didn't know what the fuck that was and I thought it was kinda funny she thought I would.. then she started talking about injuries from hitting gates/ really wasn't all that funny or anecdotal though...

The other day we are in the lift line, and a crew of racers roll in. One of them nails my friends new skis. So my friend turns around and looks at him just wanting an apology. All of a sudden one of them blurts out " what the fuck you looking at" and im just "whaaaa?" and then they said some more things to us and the whole thing ended in them challenging us to a race and hitting us with their training hoses. We later see these kids calling anyone who had twin tips "fucking posers" for no reason.

i tend not to mess with racers all though they have there moments last time i did i go ta 720 off a 50 foot booter just thrown in face so their w/e some are cool some are gay

Hate all you want on rich little kids and their race clubs, but i race for my high school and its hard work. To be good, you have to be committed and work really hard at it, especially when mommy and daddy dont pay for your gear. Plus it builds so much strengh and technical ability, the only drawback is you have less time for park. Honestly, its a worthy sacrifice for me because i know i will be a better skier the rest of my life. Also most successful pro skiers have race backgrounds so it obvioulsy doesnt make you worse...

yeah

i was at northstar last year for like the california state race championships and i would end up riding the expresses with all kinds of racers.

the worst were the snowboard cliques but there was this one kid who was all by himself who was so chill. i rode with him for a little bit (he wanted to see the stash..) and he pointed out this girl who he told me he had been crushing on since like 4th grade and she kept on rejecting him. he was such a chill kid. mad good skiier too.

i don't really mind racers as athletes, they're just doing the same thing we are really, just skiing. but as people, i have met more racers than i can count, and they have all been arrogant stuck-up narcissistic pricks who think they're the best shit out there. i honestly can't say i've met a racer who has been humble about their racing, they're always claiming the shit out of everything and putting people down.

ima racer

I used to race when I was little. 7-11 I think. I rode Fischer skis. I don't much remember anything about it though except that it helped me a lot skiing ability wise. I never had a skin suit though.

hey what about that story about the park rat who doesnt actually know how to ski and cant actually carve turns....sorry about the hate you just piss me off

but thats not what your talking about. everyone who doesnt race has this styreotypical idea of how racers act. All of my friends, myslef included, race and ski park. i dont drive around in daddys car either and i buy my own shit. i apologize for being harsh but people need to open their eyes about seeing people as who they are not by what they do

you don't respond to that by telling park rats or backcountry boys or anyone else that they're bad at skiing though. i mean come on, so some kids haven't done any racing and never got any proper training, it doesn't mean you can put them down for it. i don't stereotype racers, but you and every other racer i've met has done the same thing to me and the other skiers i know, they respond to any attacks on their personality by saying stuff like "well you can't even keep your legs together properly when you ski."

i'm not saying all racers resort to that kind of bullshit, i'm just saying that every single one i've ever met has. that would be like me responding to hate about how i'm an asshole with an asshole comment about how i'm a better biker than the person hating on me. it's fucking juvenile.

So my lil bro (who just turned 10 and is small and looks probably eight) was in the park with me the other day. He has some 06 jr scratches but they are hardly even twintips. So we see thes 2 kids probably 11 in the park with race gear on but pretty nice twin tips and bindings. So there debating if there gonna hit this bow and my lil bro goes up on his first hit of the day ( first hit of year, opening day) hits it, lands switch and it was real smooth. He also landed a switch up later that day. Hes gonna be crazy when hes older, he has no fear.

Word man. For me its all about the love for the sport, i dont hate on anybody and dont care if you are good or bad at skiing, as long as you are having fun and doing it for a good reason. Racer stereotypes tick me off because i know im not that type of guy, but i dont stereotype people that dont race just because they dont wear a skinsuit. Its all about having fun, whether you can or cant carve a turn.

ya she really isnt. dude if you really want to see her, just put the link in at proxy.org. use proxies, it will have different IP's so it will be like someone else going.

I have no hate against any racers just for being racers. But assholes are assholes no matter how they ski. One time me and my brother were sharpening our skis in our locker room and a racer tried to walk by us (small locker room) by saying "racer coming through". we didnt move and he just felt stupid.

I cant say anything tho, I raced from age 6-12, did mogul comps from 12-17, freeskied for a little, and now newschool 19-21.

All styles of skiing have different advantages

Wanna hear my story????
Racing makes you a GREAT skier, and I am disgusted that kids these days are growing up riding park, and pretty much nothing else. GO LEARN HOW TO SKI !!!! It's fuckin important.... Big ups to all the racers out there ;)

well, i was riding at pc bombing down switch, and some motherfucker (racer) just goes right in the middle of the run in my way forcing me to revert out and he just laughed so i gave him the bird and proceeded bombing switch

My problem is that at my home hill i have a few friends in the race program that are amazing racers one is even on the national team and beats most of the guy but are real humble genuinely nice people so i like riding with them but then their is all the rest that are so stuck up think their top shit even when there not that good and they dont give a shit bout anyone else on the mountain spesh not park skiiers. there are so many that get everything bought for them but rnt good. my school takes people who sign up down to the snow for a week to race in our season and i do it so i get a week at the snow and i am not the best skiier though i try hard to learn to do real skiing but i still beat people in race suits and new hell expensive skis who then proceed to tell me how much i suck.its like im here for the love of skiing even if its racing which isnt my favourite and they proceed to try be better than everyone i donno if its like that in america but its sucks over here.sorry bout the novel

Bingo... I grew up racing for 11 years. Racing is the reason that I can ski... I quit because the people involved in it all suck. From the racers, to the coaches, to the organizers. I was lucky enough to have a coach who was chill as hell, but the rest of them were terrible. When I went to college I decided I had had enough of the bull shit politics. That's the best part about freestyle, do what you want and be yourself. Racing makes you conform to some bitch ass norm that encompasses the discipline, it's too bad really. I loved racing, but I couldn't stand the people who were involved with it.

I was just going to mention this, because I've had a similar run in this season. i ski snowbird and i was riding on the cat track to big emma and as i passed under gadzoom i got the "fucking poser" comment by some lil bitch racer on the lift. I happened to notice that you also ride snowbird-it probably was the same fucking kid that you're talking about. we should mugg him. oh & ++K gotta love the bird.

I personally don't have a problem with racers at all, i ski with a lot of racers / ex-racers and they're all way chil, also some kids I know who tear all over the mtn. (including park) are/were racers.

i think some kids just are cocky lil bitches who think that racing>newschool skiing, i mean who the fuck really cares, its just different types of skiing.. whats with all the hate? im sure the majority of all skiiers all have the common intrest of snow, riding and having fun so i don't get why some kids are lil douche bags.

i think a lot of it stems from the nature of racing itself. you start when you are young, and your parents and coaches and everything work you and tell you that you are the best, and its all competitive and about being the best. you train together, but you still are trying to beat everyone else.

i still think racing is sick, but a lot of kids, especially younger to teenage, are just too full of themselves. i especially hate the older ones that havent done it for long but think they are hot shit. if you pizza coming up to a gate, you are in the wrong sport

i dont know how to link so please dont get mad, but here are 2 edits of me (cole) and my friends (jared, trevor, tanner) who all race...
me tanner and trevor all go to a ski racing academy, Stratton Mountain School,us 3 are full time racers, as in, almost every weekend throughout the winter racing and weekdays training, so we dont have much time for freeskiing, only a couple pre-season weekends and opening weekend at stratton, and ask either of the ju brothers we're not bad *a little claim*i appreciate everyone (mostly) sticking up for racers because a lot of people on NS will not so thank you
and these edits might bring people back to the words "rich racers" but this isnt my house its jared and trevors, and their dad is one of the smartest guys i know and he worked extremely hard for this house (which is a retirement home) so DO NOT HATE!!!!!
these videos were also top rated on NS for a while, now their on the second page
thanks again guys and girls!
