So I'm checkin out the Scratch Ghetto. I'm 5'10, bout 170 lbs, and an "Type III" skier (60-70% park).
Should I go with the 174 or the 181?
I know theres been tons of threads on ski sizing, but this is specific. Thanks!

Are you going to grow anymore? Is this your only ski (all mountain). If yes, do 181. Personally, I like my park skis a bit shorter, so I'm both taller and heavier than you and have 171. This is in part b/c I can't afford much else, but hey. So yeah, depends on what you like. Personally, I'd do 181 if it was my only ski

yea, it is gonna be my only ski, but i think im done growing cause im 18. so 181 i guess? I just don't want it to feel akwardly big and hard to spin quickly with

I think the 174 would be fine..theres too much of a hype into getting skis that are too big for you..yeah 181 would also work and probably wouldn't make much of a difference, but I think you would be fine with the shorter length

Easier to spin too.

You are likely to get recommendations for bother lengths, as they are both skiable with your weight

what length did you ski on before? If that was shorter, like around what you're buying know, and you liked that, then stay with that. However, I also have 185 BC WRS (the yellow ones) for all mountain, and for the most part they're a little big to ski park, at least for me. I don't know how good you are park, but i guess you should just keep the tips reaching to the same spot of your body that your other skis reached, assuming you weren't skiing on 150s or something

seeing as you are 170 pounds i would go with the 181's. they wont be too big for you especially if you are going to be mounting more foward than a traditional ski. im on 179s and im 5'10 and 150 and personally i would ski on nothing shorter than 175 for actual skiing

yea i snapped my 166 foils in half this weekend. I would like longer skis, but sounds lke 174 is a good bet

Yeah it is. Like I said, the longest skis I had actually "skied" on were 171, and the jump to 185 wasn't bad at all for regular skiing. I found it more difficult to switch up and stuff in the park, but I haven't hit jumps yet. I was also on heavier, wider skis (98 waist) so that might explain that. I would go with 174 because it will be longer and you've done fine on 166. Forget what my first post said, I changed my mind

thanks for the feedback guys....cept i now have a new question:

salomon might replace my broken skis with the thruster, question is, 171 or 181??? Im thinking 181, is this a good call?

yeah id say so, just center mount and they will ride shorter. theyre designed to be mounted close to center anyway.
