It’s not a Newschoolers problem, it’s just that snow sports peaked. There isn’t that much to talk about as there used to be.
Look at XGames, the downsizing of parks at most resorts, and production companies like Level 1 and Poor Boyz. Competitions like King of Style, JOI Super Sessions, and Rails to Riches didn’t stick around either.
Doesn’t bother me much, mainstream has some negatives attached to it and I believe we will bounce back in 10-20 years anyway.

I also know, that in my time on ns and looking through mod notes, people get so many chances to not be dickheads. Like, this isn't Reddit. People say heinous shit/dox/make threats/harras staff/call staff racial slurs in help emails and they STILL get like 6 chances or more before they get permaed. Y'all act like someone makes an off-color joke and they get banned for life when there are some people with longer moderation lists than the thread lists of half the members of the site and yet they are still around.

Because I like to be thorough, I just checked through about 5 pages of deleted threads from that time 2014.

approximately...
20% were scam posts
20% were spam posts from 1 or 2 members just making a thread named 1 word over and over again
25% were reposts or requested to be deleted or random old gear threads
15% were just random toxic shit, like coolflash talking about the little pink names he likes to jack off too or just had the n word or some complaint about jews in the title or op.
10% are people complaining that their threads about hating minorities got deleted
And 10% I would say are borderline over moderation.

I'm not trying to say that Instagram didn't play a part in pulling people away, but it had been around for four years prior and yet NS had hundreds active at any given time. And nor am I saying that people being harassed and getting threats is ok either. But someone cracked down on the fun post-Olympics. It went from 100-0 over a very short time period. Page one of NSG had the last thread being only minutes old since the last post. In the 2014-2015-2016 times it was like 20+ days, sometimes a month, old on page one.
