QUICK answer this wax question

i know this is a stupid question, but does it mean that its a bad hotwax job if you can still easily feel the wax on the bases, its whitish, and far fromt smooth?

you can just ski the wax off, a couple runs and its all good, or just get a scraper and finish the job. OR learn how to wax and tune your own skis, its not that hard, saves you money

yea it won't be as fast.

If it's just too much wax on em, just scrape em yourself. If you don't have a scraper, take em back and get whoever waxed em to scrape em good. or rewax them if it's something else.

skiing wax off is bad for your skis. Its like ripping hair out, instead of shaving. You leave the pores in the ski open, so water and dirt can get in=slow

 
Just buy a 30 dollar dakine tune kit or something like that and learn how to do it yourself you'll be better off in the long run and you'll always have finely tuned sticks

Ummm, did anyone else wonder if they were even waxed or over scraped (with a metal scraper)? If the bases were cleaned and scraped with a metal scraper they look whitish as well, like overly dry skis. Also, overscraped (with a metal scraper) will make it look whitish as well.

If there is just like white powdery wax residue on the ski (try brushing it off lightly with a cloth, mix of air and light pressure) you should be fine. Also, if the skis were brushed and then corked without removing all the wax residue from brushing, they can get white smears/streaks as well. The same goes if there was some additive attempted to be corked in improperly.

DON'T USE A METAL SCRAPPER!! not only is there no reason to use something so harsh to remove WAX, but it can harm your ski and make them furry (if they look white, this is what it is; fuzz)

 
just scrape and brush your own skis. skiing the wax off wont make that much of a difference, unless your racing, dont worry about it. but use a few brushes anyway

^^ you're kidding, right? plastic scrapers are shit for waxing.

i'd say just go skiing. unless there are CLUMPS of wax, or if you're intent on going crazy fast all the time, it's not that important.

i'd learn how to do it yourself, it's not that complicated, and there's a ton of stuff on the internet to help you out. it costs mabye $50 to get all the stuff to do everything, unless you go for some of the more advanced tools. like edge guides + files instead of cheap edge tools. and a full blown ski vice will run 200+, where you can build your own with plywood and a couple of big clamps for next to nothing.
