Im gonna build a box thats about 12ft long, 18inches wide and 12 inches high. First of all waht types of wood do u guys use? pine? also what am looking at cost-wise for the whole box if i use HDPE to cover it? im gonna have more questions once i develop these plans more
i think most people around here including myself just build the frames out of 2x4's because its easy and they are cheap since they are pine like you said. Most of the main parts on my boxes are 2x4s but they i also use just whatever else i can find.
the 2x4s will be relitively cheap but the hdpe is what is going to run your cost up. i personally just use pvc because i got some for free and its real cheap so the boxes that i have built probably only cost around 30-40 bucks.
check usplastics.com for the hdpe you want. your going to need at least 1/4 inch
id use 1/4 inch HDPE, and yeah just use 2x4s for the frame, and if you want use plywood for the skirting, and it will cost about 20 to 30 for the wood, and like 75 to 100 dollars for HDPE
Ok, i decided im gonna use 2" pvc pipes for the top, 14 inches wide. so ill probably use about 7 pipes. Has anyone else used a bunch of pvc pipes for a box? how did it work?
ive used a bunch of pvc for my boxes. they are probably like 12 inches wide and i used 4 pvc pipes at 1 1/2" inches. you will def not need 7 of them. i have spaces inbetween mine and thye have held up fine just screw them in from the top and round off you holes and it will work fine. id say you probably only need 4 unless your box is a double wide, as i probably could have gotten away with only 3 pipes
