Questions about making skis softer

So, i want to make my skis softer by putting two planks under tails and noses of the ski and and putting weight to center and i got some questions about it.

Does it affect to the durability of the ski? ( I have masterminds and I Dont want to break them)

How long does it take to make skis softer.

And lastly, do you got better ideas for making skis softer?

K+ for good answers.

you want to make masterminds softer?

they are one of the softest, least durable skis on the market.

they will break...

do not do this...

Agreed, you cannot really make skis softer, they will break in overtime mildly but anything that will make it feel significantly softer will be doing some sort of structural damage.

Just curious, why do you think those masterminds are stiff? Try riding them for a while and get used to them stiff skis have recently grown on me, they have way more positives then soft skis and once you figure out how to really lay into them you can butter them almost as well.

they are soft but they are too long for me so i cant butter them well.

So unless making skis softer (i guess breaking them in) shrinks your skis, i think you have the wrong idea....

I want to make them softer so i can butter, not smaller. but i guess i will not gonna make them because it breaks allready undurable skis.

You just said they are soft, but too long, which makes it hard to butter... Hence you dont need to make the skis softer but get shorter skis...

Your words not mine.

Only way to really make a ski softer is to use them.

You have these options:

1.) try making them softer your way. Masterminds suck so they could break, and if probably won't make them softer

2.) ride them. This will make them softer, also you can butter without skis being uber soft.

3.) go get skis your size

And I try to ride them and make them softer that way.

I'm 15 so i am still growing so maybe next season they will be fine.

How tall are you and what size ski did you get?

Get stronger legs. Those skis are perfect size for you. Buttering abilities comes with leg strength, and you can butter any skis with strong legs. Plus it will make you a better skier.

Okay. I'm also pretty light if that makes sense.

I'd put money on the reason you can't butter is because your boots don't fit properly or you don't have developed leg muscles. To do good butters you need two things.

- Boots that fit and are of medium to stiff flex.

- Strong legs.

NOT sloppy noodle skis.

I have AR7's that are 5cm taller than me and are at least 2 times as stiff as Masterminds and I can butter just fine.

If your boots are too soft or don't fit properly so you're sliding around in them or have a lot of heel lift then you're not going to be able to properly transfer the power you put into your boots to your skis.

OP did you get properly fitted by a good boot fitter?

No, they are not fitted by boot fitter but they have been fine for me 3 years now.

I can butter but not like super good.

I compared my old future spins to my friends masterminds are holy shit they were light and buttery. Just ski a lot and you'll work them in, The first day I got my skis I couldn't even nose butter now they flex like a motherfucker!

I'm 16 years old. Close to your age, and I'm like 172 cm last time I checked. I ski on 176 kartels, they size big, but ski short. They're a lot atiffer than master minds (granted they have rocker) and I can butter on them. You just need to try harder, they'll come soon man.

You're skis are not too big for you.

I've heard about people soaking their skis in gasoline overnight to make them flexy.

Most epoxy is completely unaffected by gasoline. But I still think this is a terrible idea, gasoline is a solvent and you have no idea what parts of your ski it will dissolve. At the very least I 100% guarantee it will work its way into your binding screw threads and fuck the core around them. Terrible idea all round.

Putting weight on the middle while supporting the ends will result in a bent ski, not a soft ski.
