So, I am really considering ski bumming at Mt.Hood this summer by myself or with one or two buddies. We all have a couple questions though and would really like some advice from people who have done this before. Anyways:

Do we need a car?

Is it possible to get to everywhere we need to go within walking distance/biking distance?

Best affordable places to live/camp?

If we camp is there anywhere to get Wifi for free?

If we camp should we bring any electronics?

What's rent like for apartments?

How often will I be able to ski if I work at Timberline Lodge?

Whats working at Timberline like chill/not chill?

How many days a week will we probably work if were just doing basic shit jobs?

Best way to get to Mt.Hood from the airport without a car?

What should we bring or not bring?

How much money should be bring for supplies and food?

Whats the wage per hour at Timberline?

Should we bring more warm weather clothes or cold weather clothes?

Is there any place to shower if we decide to camp out?

Lastly is this even possible for a bunch of 18 year old kids to do?

Yeah I 100% agree it's more of bringing relief to the rents, there more interested in this info than I am to be truly honest.
 
You need a car unless you are down with hitchhiking up the road every morning. There are some wifi cafes in govy. Not to hard to get the code for showers and pool at collins lake resort or something there. as long as you dont look like a complete ski bum and are respectful you can just walk into timberline lodge and go for a swim/hot tub. Pay at timberline is gonna be minimum wage, idk if there are any miscellaneous jobs left as a couple of my friends just snatched up some parking lot jobs and its late in the season.
 
I'd just buy a dirt cheep old RV from someone and fix it up a little. That will cover all your transportation and living needs. Then once your done from bumming, you can either sell it or use it more.

saw some pro who bummed there in a vid that bought some 500 shit car that got him around
 
THreads, driving up there the end of june, so stoked! probably will just be camping and staying at friends houses here and there..

but if anyone is trying to get a house or something, or needs another roomate let me know!

 
There is a trail that goes from Govy to Timberline, I've hiked it with ski stuff before but doing that every day would be a pain in the ass. Bring a car or you'll end up hitch hiking for sure.
 
Summer passes are around 900 and day tickets are 60ish. Dont try and poach because we will catch you and make your life miserable. The best way to go would be get a job. You then get to work a day/ride a day unless you work full time then you can purchase a pass for 125ish.
 
Sounds gay. Summer sucks but fucking deal with it. Sounds like you are wasting your parents money. Why don't you just ask them to give you that money they'd waste for something better?

Im dying for it to be November so I can take my black ass home to where I belong. Gotta kill the time in Europe, my moms basement, and then motel rooms early fall selling tickets to pay for my season.

There is plenty of hike-able back country terrain. People forget that. Probably wouldn't make sense for a whole summer but you could camp, buy a few day passes, and hike bc for a few weeks early in the summer. That is your cheapest option. You would probably need a car for sure. The only way you could get by without one is if you stay in Govy and hitch hike T-line road everyday. I don't know what to tell you about a job. Maybe skibowl if you are lucky, but I feel like jobs are hard to come by up there. Goodluck.
 
You definitely need a car, but absolutely 18 year olds can do it. Just find a place in the woods to park your car, and camp out for cheapest housing. Weather never really gets bad but do bring a coat just in case we get one of those rare June snowstorms. Summer passes are way expensive so you'll definitely need a job to afford it (im assuming). But you could do alot worse than parking cars at Timberline for a summer job....

Mainly i would say just go and figure it out on the fly. Just know its doable, be mellow and go with the flow, and your in for a great great summer, my friend.
 
I also have a question pertaining to Mt.Hood.

If I were to go to windells and the session was , say , from the 1st to the 8th

would the plane tickets have to be on the 1st and the 8th

or on the 30th and the 9th ?

I always wondered this since windells don't do packages inclunding the plane tickets
 
Did you ever think to maybe call the ski camp place and ask? Or send an e-mail? I am sure they would help you.

But no, lets just ask NS about my plane reservations and hope I get out to Mt Hood in time...
