Question

This is a math question

There is a lake with Lily pads

Everyday the number of lily pads doubles

The lake is full by 48 days

On what day is the lake half full?

Lol true.

Unless it increased by an amount equal to twice the previous number of lily pads (ex. 1+2+4 = 7 on third day, etc.)

N(2^t) = 1/2 N(2^48)

2^t = (2^-1)*(2^48)

2^t = 2^(48-1)

t = 48-1

t = 47

Where t is the number of days passed and N is the original amount of lily pads.

Answer is 47. The number is irrelevant. If its full on day 48 and it doubled in size everyday before then on day 47 it would be half full

Never? Pretty sure lilly pads can only grow within a certain depth of water which keeps them around the sides?
