Question on salomon falcon 10's

i posted a thread awhile back asking for help with boots. I bought a pair of salomon spk pros last year and they were completely the wrong boot.I have a very narrow foot, ankle and calf..chicken legs. I just got back from snow covers (boot fitter in north van) and they fitted me up with a salomon falcon 10. It feels really comfy and snug but its labeled as a race boot. I need a boot for patrolling, meaning i will be in it all day riding groomers, back runs, powder and on my off days be in the park and hitting back country airs . How will this "race boot" perform for this? Will i find it to stiff? Do i want something more freestyle oriented?

Thanks for any help

Steve

The falcon 10's are 110 flex index right? I think Salomon makes a falcon 9 if you think the 10's are too stiff. That's completely dependent on you though. It will be a big difference, albeit a good one, coming from spks.

im a bit of a noob with the tech talk of gear. just begining to get some good stuff. but how will a stiffer boot perform in the park and overall just jibbing around

There really is no set flex for jibbing. Generally a softer flex is what is recommended. Some people just prefer their boots to be stiff or soft though. How would you say you like your boots? Do you like give or do you like any movement of your leg to be transfered into the ski? Definitely go talk to the shop again if you can. If they have a boot fit guarantee You'll probably be able to get softer boots if you don't like them after a while.

I've ridden race boots in the park and they are fine, I mean if you ride park for like 8 hours on them, it won't be as comfortable as a more flexible boot but I personally don't mind a stiffer flexing boot. I rode the stiffest Head non race boots from like 2 or 3 years ago and they were fine.

I skied on Falcon 10's for a whole year and heres my thoughts. Awesome in the powder, groomers, and pretty much everything but park, and thats mainly because of the liner, im sure when you tried them on you noticed that there is zero padding, so my shins didn't like em to much. The flex on mine was 120, so id assume theyd still be a 120 flex. Id say it would be a very solid patroling boot but since you said that you liek to do park as well you might want to look into like the gun cause it might be more versatile.

yeah the guns are the same shell as the falcons, so they'll fit pretty much the same. they have a 95 flex and the shock absorbing bootboard, so those might be a good option. you could also try the nordica enforcers. they're pretty narrow fitting, have 100 flex. and they've got the chock eraser and booster straps which will be nice features in the park
