Question on my new set up

Hey, Just got a pair of 2007 rossi sratch FS wrs ski's and rossi scratch 120 bindings.

I tried them today, and these bindings are super heavy.

I was wondering, what is the lightest binding out there, or what comes close.

My freinds told me my set up is heavy and should have gone with salomon z10 bindings(which they ride, so i believe its biased-But there setups are pretty light)

Is that a good choice, or should i ride it out with my setup right now.
 
You won't notice much of a difference when it comes to weight. Just use your current bindings, there much better than the Salomon's anyways.
 
Agreed with him, but I don't know what you consider 'heavy.'

Unless your bindings are THAT much heavier then FKS120, that has to be an extremely light setup.

I'm almost positive my 165cm TMs /w px12ti weigh MORE then my 181cm WRS /w fks120. Everytime I tug my TMs out to my backyard they feel way heavier then my WRS do when I go to the mtn, they did a real good job killing some weight from the FS to the FS WRS, such a light ski for its length (@ 181).
 
Weight of your bindings is completely irrelivant.

Its SWINGWEIGHT you want to concern yourself with. My Ar6's with FKS 120's are exactly 1.5 lbs heavier than my Scratch Sprayer FS's with Px12s, but I can spin and carve much easier on my Ar6's, as the swing weight is lower.

Just keep in mind, the lighter you go, the more you are comprimising structural integrity and durrability.

I would rather have a heavier all metal race stock, than a lighter plastic model.
 
random theory: i think my 181 jibs with px12jibs on them are lighter then this years 175 Tm's in plastic.
 
Now what about Boot weight with swing weight.

I know for a fact my Scratch Boots weight a ton more than SPK's.

I was definitly thinking of selling my boots and buying spk's.

Would that make a difference too?
 
yes! because now not only will you lower your swing weight but you'll have a boot that most likely will only not fit you, but you'll be making posts claiming the boot is faulty for giving you shinbang among other problems.

Your boots weight will have no/little effect on your swing weight, its on your foot. Your bindings are directly around your boot, which is again, on your foot. Your skis are 95% of your swing weight, and depending on where your mounted it'll feel more/less. I'll tell you now your skis are light as hell, and if they are at true center I don't know how much lower you can go
 
well the shin bang i got today sucks, so i cant see anything different with Spks lol.

I see what your saying, maybe i should just stop listening to my friends.

They say how my skis are crazy light, just the Scratch binding and boots are too heavy.

Who knows, maybe i just need to ride on them more.
 
your so right on both counts. i remember picking up both of those boots in the shop and i was wondering how much lead was in the scratch boot. yes it does make a difference but we all need to know that some time on our quest to find the lightest setup we are goign to sacrifice strength and its going to break our equitment, so keep it strong and relize that sometimes the extra weight can be a good thing.
 
Just stick with what you've got. Even if it's heavy, you'll get used to it. And next time you pick up your setup, go for something lighter, and then you'll notice the difference even more.
