Question for shop techs - mounting issue

I just got back from getting my AR6s mounted with Pivot 14s. I decided not to use the plates, and I was taking a look at them, and there is a small gap in between the ski and the heel piece. Is this going to be a problem or is that normal when you mount these without the plates? Sorry for the shitty pic - all I have is a cell phone.

usually are made long enough to fit the ski with the plate.

so without the plate, they probably couldnt put the screws all the way without dimpling or going through your bases, so they couldnt tighten it all the way, leaving that gap

but i could be wrong

why didnt you use the plates?

any good shop tech would have either had the correct length screws or they wouuld have ground them down so that they didn't go through the base.... I dunno about the space though, seems like an issue to me.

I wanted a lower stand height, so I had them mounted w/out the plates. The screws were initially too long, but I had the shop tech grind them down, so I don't think it's an issue with screw length. It's hard to see in the pic, but the heel piece is resting on top of hardened glue. Don't know if that makes a difference.

Disclaimer: I am not a tech.

However I don't like the sound of the issue. I would think that any gap between what I'm gonna call the baseplate and the ski is gonna mean more leverage on those front two screws when landing switch (I assume that it is a gap between the front screws of the heelpiece and the ski). I used to get a gap somewhat like that on my volkl walls (with px12s) and then a day later the whole heelpiece would pull out. That said that ski was notorious for pullouts (07-08).

Actually, the whole thing is raised a tiny bit, which makes me think it's not a huge deal because that gap would be normal if the plate was in place. Not sure if that makes sense or not.
