Question for reggae afficianados

DOes anyone know who Marcus Garvey is/ was? Seems like almost every reggae artist mentions him. im going to check wikipedia next, but thought someone here might have some insight. thanks
 
How old are you? I learned about him back in soph. or junior year of high school. For the most basic description possible but all you need to know for the reggae part: he was a Jamaican black activist from the early 1900's. He's considered (or considered equal to) a profit to many rastafarian's.

no problem man. it doesn't really matter actually. i just figured you hadn't learned about him yet. aparently you just didn't learn about him in the first place. oh well. my history teacher was a nut anyways. he died his hair blue and lived in china for 2 years.

Burning Spear has a great song named after him if you haven't heard it already. Yahadanai actually uses an excerpt from one of his speeches in one of his songs too.
