Question for "poleless riders"

back in my mogul days we would dp drills without poles, it def helped with blance and stuff. but iv skied park with out poles a few times usualy when its my turn to film its kinda intresting to do every once and awhile.

what happined to drugs, sex, & rock and roll...now adays we have aids crack and techno.......

I think it's hilarious that people get all riled up over people not having poles. I mean.. what the fuck? What does it change at all? If someone wants to ride without poles, they should, if you do, then fuckin go for it. Think about it, why would you use poles anyways? for balance and shit? then maybe people who don't use poles have better balance? maybe not?

Doesn't matter, personally I want to start riding without because I don't find them aesthetically pleasing to mine eyes.

i personally dont think that there is a huge difference riding w/ or w/o poles balance wise. maybe because i began as a skiboarder but even when i got my first pair of cheap ass poles they felt a lot lighter than i thought they would. i use poles because i find it annoying to duck waddle in skis. skiboards its fine but skis get in the way. i like the look of having poles while hitting park too i think w/o em it just looks like something is missing. and i ride j-bars and tow ropes all the time w/ poles its no inconvienience

of course your going to feel retarded at first when you dont use poles(theres nothing in your hands) in a way it's kind of retarded that skiers do grabs when they already have something in their hand. It's just a new way of skiing it's fun and differnt...especially if you have to ride the same shitty mountain everyday and your doing laps on a rope tow

I love the balance you get from them. Poles are just hot, and thats it. The people I know who dont use them are losers. May make grabs easier tho. But lame.

People simply are used to poles; if everyone didnt use poles, poles would probably seem very awkward. I personally like to see people skiing without poles, just to mix it up a little.

Word up Weiler....that is what i was talking about....Obviously you ride poles when you ride big mountain..but when your in the park it doesn't matter that much... I thought it was retarted until i took a trip to Highland Hills in MN, then after 40 plus laps in an hour I realized that poles are pains in the ass and those guys who ride without them comming from Highland are smarter than we all think....Im for riding pole less...I still ride with them..but once and a while i ride without them...Its more tough..and adds style...

 
Poles o no poles, idk your choice...but as far as grabs go you gota rock no gloves, no gloves gives you a much better grip on the actual ski and makes you more aware of where you hands are. no gloves also keeps you from washing out b/c you don't want to drag those exposed hands

if u think about it what are poles for, BALANCE if you ride wit no poles it takes away balance of your upper body so basically its harder with out poles, so everyone on this thread sayin ridin with no poles is gay i think ur just coverin up ur terrible skiing,

 
Zachy D is a pretty steezy skier when he doesn't use poles...in fact earlier this season he was jibbing our rail while talking on his cell phone to Julie. VIBRATION STEEZE!

i tried it last season, just for fun. it felt really weird skiing trees, but in the park i just guerilla steezed everything, and i felt like a snowboarder. it is just a comfort thing, having something to hold when you hit a jump

yo i ride w/o poles when i work adaptive, because you need to in order to tether monoskis and stuff, but it does feel better riding with poles, especially on rails and stuff, but its not all too different.

 
skiing without poles is almost as stupid looking as snowboarding with them.

Eaglecrest alaska is sick. Two lifts are better than twenty.
 
hahah i have seen them before. i saw some crazy ass like 8 year old 50-50 our rainbow hahahah and he wasnt on twins, with no poles and a racing one-piece, that shit was great, we were like "what the hell is that kid doing.....holy shit!! that mother fuckers got balls, hahaha"

im a ski insrtictor so sometimes i dont use poles. if my students aren't using poles, then i dont, although they make good props. at the begginning of the year it felt really awkward without poles but now im used to it. it is sacry as hell in the pipe without poles tho. i prefer skiing with poles

if you ride without poles for a while, you get used to not using your hands for anything, and therefore look much more relaxed when you pick them back up.

why not get just really light poles so you dont know they are there? ride with them if you dont like poles.
