Question about pvc?

I have my whole jib built but I was just wondering, do you have to sand the tops of the pvc or coat it with anything?... or is it prime to just hit. I don't wanted to get f'ed up !!

slide your skis across it, and see if it slides ok.

but unless you did something wrong, it should be ready to hit.
