Question about overbite and invisalign

Alright I just found out I have to get braces and im a sophmore in highschool fml. I bitched to my dad that im not getting braces unless i get invisalign cause my teeth arent even that bad. So now he made an appointment for the doctor to see if invisalign would work on me. I heard that invisalign is good in correcting minor teeth alignment but not as effective in fixing an overbite. Now my over bite is pretty bad but I was wondering if i could just make it not look as bad by just sliding my jaw up a bit. If you have a normal bite do your far back teeth touch when you bite down? I really do not want to deal with braces by the time I get them ill be a junior and i have to have them for two years after that so fuck me. I wouldnt mine as much having invisalign because you can barely see it and you can take it out and eat whatever you want. Thanks +k niggas

invisalign looks pretty gross in my opinion. I don't really mind braces but they definitely detract from ones appearance. Look on the bright side- having them now is better than having them as an adult.

True story though- my teeth weren't really crooked, but I had an overbite so I got braces for a year. When I got them off I didn't wear my retainer regularly like I was supposed to and my teeth started to shift back. I then got my wisdom teeth in and that pushed my lower teeth forward officially putting me back to where I was before I ever even got braces.

So it was basically a pointless waste of money for me to have ever had them, and my teeth look fine, I get compliments on my teeth all the time, overbite and all. Moral of the story- if you allow your wisdom teeth to come in, your bite will likely change anyway.

Thanks but I just realy dont want braces ill do whatever to get the invisalign thing im just trying to get my dentist to say ok to me getting it.

and yes, im pretty sure your molars are always supposed to touch. that way you can chew food. Is your plan to slide your teeth up so you don't have an overbite like....at all times? That sounds impossibly exhausting, I think you'd be able to keep that up for about 5 minutes.

I would personally go for Invisalign. I just got my braces off after 2.5+ years and I'm not even in highschool (It takes longer, the older you are). But it's up to you.

Just get braces. You're only in highschool for what, 3 years? 4 if you're dumb? Get your teeth fixed now.

The only people that care about what happens in highschool, are still in highschool. The rest of your life is so much longer than a few years spent in school.

Find a dentist who does 6 month smiles. You might be to toung for it. My brother is a dentist and he puts these in adults with minor alignment problems. Much cheaper than an ortho as well but very few dentists do em

i didnt have any noticeable problems with my teeth but there was little things i could fix so it wouldnt get worse over time. I got invisalign and i am on my 3rd tray. i have to change mine every 2 weeks and i have them for 6 months. I like being able to take them out to eat but you have to make sure your mouth is somewhat clean before putting them back on. and they arnt really invisible at all. from a distance they are hard to see but if you are talking to someone the can notice them. I would get it down now if are were you because then you wont have to worry about it in college or when you have to pay for them yourself

Do not get Invisaline it looks gross. Braces are not bad, just get them, most people have to get them, it will not be that bad, I have them but get them off in August and honestly they're not bad.

I had invisalign for three months to fix some minor problems, and it worked great. They are a pain though, you basically have to brush two sets of teeth everyday.

I've had a few friends that had invisalign and they worked great. But obviously orthodontists don't want you to use them because you don't have to go to an orthodontist to get them.

And as for being pissed that you're a sophomore in high school and getting them, try being a college graduate looking for a teaching job and just getting them. Haha, should be getting my first sets in a week.

Same case with me when I was in HS. I had some janky-ass teeth. I got braces and didn't mind them that much because every other kid has them in their underclassman years. My overbite was considered severe and the braces helped a decent amount and they actually tried to make me wear headgear at night which I refused because it hurt like a bitch and looked fucking retarded. They gave me rubber bands after I bitched to them about the headgear and it helped a little as well. I am super thankful that my parents made me stick through it because it sucks to have shark teeth.

And like I said, you're a sophomore in high school, chances are you're not pulling in too many girls at this point and what dude thinks differently of a guy wearing braces. Also, Invisalines are ok but don't work as well a good 'ol fashion metal. If you get braces now, you'll thank your parents someday.

P.s. Wear your retainer at night after you get those things off, your teeth with shift right back to the way they were if you don't.
