Question about my disc brakes

ok, so my front disc breaks dont seem to grab the disc very well anymore. and they make a really loud squeel when they do. i took them appart and cleaned them with a toothbrush and rag, as well as cleaned the disc, even tried sandpapering it. nothing is helping it grab more. does anyone know whats wrong with my bike, or know how i can fix it?

my dad was thinking viniger since that would disolve any oil that may have gotten on it. but i figured i would ask my second family first.

thats the thing. im lookin for last resort attempts to rivive them before i go spending 30 bucks on new pads.

check your fluid, bleed it out, make sure theres no air it in line...at least thats what i would do on my dirbike, i dont know what kind of brakes your talking about, are like regular bikes fluid? i guess they would have to be.

dude just bleed em then bring it to the shop..actually, bring it to teh shop that way they do everything right

that wont do shit.

his pads are word down to the plastic behind them. all he needs is now pads, not bleed them cus they are mechanical, just new pads

one of my buddies bought a bulk box of like 20 pads on ebay for like 150

Untill you blow a line. You could have the brakes machined. I am 100% sure though that you need new pads man.......well unless you like runing into trees/walls/snowbanks/small children.

first you need to make sure your caliper pots are even, if not the calipers arnt fully pushed on2 disc and this can make loud squeling noises and reduce brake power hugely. if its not this its new pad time, oh, and NEVER EVER sand paper your discs. it just wrecks them and will reduce braking power even more if done 2 much.

jesus christ man pads aren't that expensive and if you pull yours out and they look worn out your gonna want to replace them before they damage the rotor. if they are clean and not grabing check to see if the pads are making contact it might be a cable issue or if your running hydraulics i would take it to a shop and see what they say its usually free if they don't need to fix anything or if you just want them to look it over

yeah sounds like you need new pads. remember, it'll be way cheaper to replace the pads now, or else your gonna fuck up your dic and have to get a new one as well, and thats hella pricy. MEC has some pretty good deals on pads. what kind of brakes do u have?

theres some for like 5$ but they wont last long, but depends on what you do.

and wow, so many people are saying shit about hydrolic and if you actualyy read what he said, you'd realize that his are mechanical

what grit was the sandpaper you used? if it was really fine then it might not be as effective. try soaking them in rubbing alcohal over night.

thanks for the help guys. i will try the rubbing alcohol thing. it couldnt hurt right? and if that doesnt work i will buy some new pads.

i think hayes. it is a weird writting and its kinda scratched off. but they are the square pads.

hahaha I thought this was going to be for a car. How old are you timmi ?
