Question about making a rail

ok so we found this sick piece of metal thats like 30 feet long and 4inches wide that i want to make into a flatbar. we were bored so we just layed it down in the yard and gave it a little test but for some reason the thing does not slide its sooo damn sticky and slow, even hitting it super fast. it seems to sratch easier and i can feel the drag on my urban skis' messed up edges. is there anything i can do to it to make it faster? i cant think of anyhting but i thought id give it a try to see if someone knew anyhting. i think the metal must be aluminium or something cause theres no way steel would scratch up that bad and be slow. let me know thanks guys

as far as i can see im gunna try painting it up and doin a little wd40 but if that doesnt work ill just not use it....i really want to use it tho cause its a perfect piece of metal

i asked like 3 guys and no one sent me anyhting...anyone who can send me a invite to buildajib 101 thatd be great

If it's aluminum, screw it. But otherwise grind the top and polish it if you can, and then paint it.

if it's steel, you can grind it smooth and then wax it. If it's aluminum, you're going to kill yourself.

hahah well i have no idea how to tell....i dont think steel would do this but i can make it all the way down if i go at it fast but its def way slower than it should be

steel you can wax and grind to always keep smooth. aluminum is too soft to grind no matter what. so if its aluminnum just toss it

wax then sand, i did that for skateing and it works good on my trucks. so i assume itl be good for ur rail, what kind of metal is it, it would help to know

idk im thinkin it might be aluminum but i cant tell theres no like metal test but ill try all the things you guys said and if they dont work then ill have to toss it, its a shame tho id love to have that in my backyard

yeah aluminum is a non-ferris metal so that means a magnet will not stick to it if it is aluminum. Also if it was steel it would me mad heavy

if it took less than 3 ppl to move it then it aint steel

a 30 foot flatbar steal is one HEAVY piece of metal, like a few hundred pounds, a 30 foot piece of alum would be like 100 or less depending on guage...

i think its a mix or something...idk i stole it haha but it was heavy for 2 guys im gunna check the magnetic thing and if not ill scrap it thanks for the input
