I wanna jail break mine but im not sure of the best way to do it. And if it messes up your Ipod so you cant use it. Any advice? Good experiences? Bad?

is that the hack thing?

my friend did it to his, fucking amazing

before it was ok, but now it's awesome

but it voids the warranty

yah i did it! its sooo sick! go to jailbreakme.com on ur touch and then click download appsnap

do not use JAILBREAKME.COM, it doesnt install the SSH client to the best of my knowledge i could be wrong though, I would suggest using tinyurl.com/36dsyz just go to that on your ipod and safari will crash, it will then go to mainscreen and download a file. then it will restart. This is not the first step however, if you just got your ipod, youre firmware will be 1.1.2. and maybe 1.1.3. depending how recent it is, idk if 1.1.3. is outyet but meh, anyways this is also fairly simple to to do. follow this video:

Then you would do what i explained in the first paragraph. Now once you have that done install oktoprep from the installer that is put on your ipod when u jailbreak. MAKE SURE you do that, otherwise you will have to restore and that is no fun. Then you will jailbreak to 1.1.2. This can be done following this:

And then you're done! I didnt explain it very clearly at all, for more info on what to do visit this site:

Don't make noob posts cause they gte pissed off. Anyways idk if what i said helps but i would definately recommend doing this, on mine i have 10 gameboy advanced games like mario kart and mortal kombat, Playstation 1 with grand theft auto, all the iphone apps, a functioning internet phone (uses voip) and a bunch of other cool shit, but if you dont have wifi in your house dont bother doing anything.

Yea sweet! Ok so I think ive figured out how to do it. But once u get the installer app how do you pick which other apps you want cuz like all the different kids ive seen that have it have completely different stuff.

Oh and just throwing this out there cuz the next step will be convincing my parents to let me screw with the expensive thing they bought me: No one has had any problems or hiccups that like completely screw up the Ipod cuz w/ the warentee gone that would suck alot??

Man if u have any questions about the touch, feel free to ask. No, once you jailbreak, restore is possible and very easy, i've heard of problems but they are very few nd far between. All your applications are going to be found in the installer. you will need to add sources t it. All that can be found on www.ipodtouchfans.com

i probably sound like a huge noob right now, but whats jealbreaking? or whats it mean to jailbreak an ipod? like whats it do n shit

NOOB!...... jk i think its when you unlock the source so you can alter the programs and such on your ipod touch, its lets you do stuff to your touch like you are able to do when you put linux on non touch ipods. correct me if im wrong though, i dont own a touch or played with jailbreak at all

yo could some1 who knows what 'jailbreaking' is explain it to us? i understand the basic idea that your unlocking your touch. but once unlocked- whats different? how does it help?

The iPod touch and iPhone are designed so that only software apple makes and puts on the iPod will work. This is done by not allowing the user full access to the operating system. When an iPod touch or iPhone is jailbroken the user gains full access to the operating system so they can basically do whatever they want. For example, you can install new programs (NES emulator, chat programs, etc.)

Unlocking is a completely different subject and the iPod touch can't be unlocked. Cell phones are normally sold locked to a service provider. That means phones that say verizon on them will only work with verizon service, ATT phones only works with ATT service. When a phone is "unlocked" it can be used with any service that uses the technology supported by the phone. For example, I buy a phone from ATT (which uses a GSM signal) and when my contract runs out I decide T-Mobile (who also uses GSM) has a better service plan but I love my ATT phone and don't want to get a new one. I would have to unlock my ATT phone to allow it to use a sim card from T-Mobile.

There are a few ways to get an unlocked phone. Under certain conditions the service provider will unlock it for you. You can buy phones already unlocked. You can unlock them with a computer program. Currently, ATT won't unlock iPhones in America (you can get unlocked iPhones in europe, because of the laws in some countries, but they're really expensive). To get around this some programmers have figured out how to unlock the iPhone. There are paid and free ways of unlocking your iPhone both of which work almost the same I believe.

Is there a way to call a land line or cell phone via your internet connection? If there was, it would be pretty easy to turn a touch into a makeshift iphone.
