Question about iPod Nano and Siver Ten4

Hey

First of all does anyone here have these two products and how do you think they preform? Don't come on here and say buy my jacket or any bullshit thread jacking, I just want some answers, not 99% of the 50% of the stupid on NS to come in here and post. Serious answer only please.

I know the Ten4 is only a shell but I heard it's good unless you have cold weather. Would it be ok to ware that jacket and a Louis Garneau long sleve thermal shirt under it in temps. down to -20 celcius (or I think -8 ferienheight)

About the iPod Nano, before you post don't say their shit because they have a small capacity. The 4gig's can hold 100 songs, say each song is 2.5 minutes long, thats 150,000 seconds of play, theres only 86400 seconds in a day. So inacutal fact thats 1.7 days of music, so I don't want to hear people bitch about the size, its fine for me. For people that have it how does it hold up, any let downs or anything intresting about it? This will be my first iPod and I'm buying one in a few days, just wanted to know how they handel. Would you reccomend a case for it or is it fine without? Etc. Thanks

Shit I forgot to add about the Ten4, how does it fit? I'm 5'10 and 165 pounds, just wanted to know how baggy it is and what you call baggy. Post a pic if you can. Thanks in advance for any pics. Later

the 4gig holds 1000 songs and I dont have mine yet but I'm getting one next week so I will let you know the only thing im worried about is in cold conditions how do they work and how long does the battery last in the cold.

Thanks for both of the replies. Line how do you know weather your buying the insulated or shell version of the jacket? I've never seen that on any site. And as for the cold vs. battery life just keep it in a sock and on a inside pocket close to your body or take some ankle wrap and wrap it around your chest, then secure it and tuck in the iPod. If you need to access it just slip it out of the wrap, thats what i'm going to do if I get the Ten4 because I dunno if it has inside pockets.

Dude your looking way to deep into it...

Nano= bombproof, tiny, 4 gigs isnt too large of a hard drive

Ten 4= have it for a secondary coat when its warmer out not good for cold days obviously

i actually have both. i bought my ten4 jacket a little bit ago and its awesome. i just got my ipod nano as a present yesterday and its pretty sick as well. get the black for sure.

If you get a black Nano, get a cover ASAP, the scratch/scuff easily. But they are sick, almost small enough to fit in your wallet.

why would you ever go thru the trouble of ankle wraping your ipod onto your chest? put it in ur pocket unless you're mildly retarded...

Yah it was just an idea off of the top of my head. I've used mp3 players before and the cold doesn't effect them that much unless it's on a outside pocket and snow gets on that pocket or it gets wet.

siver jackets are always big a medium fits like a large. get the insulated ten4 from d-structure or somewhere else. my sister has a nano and its fine but i have the new 20gig and for $50 it holds 4k more sonds and fits in you pocket like a wallet

i dont have a nano, but i do have the normal ipod, and ive had some issues with it freezing up in cold weather, regardless wether its in a sock, or in my jacket pocket next to my chest, or both. it actually ceases to respond to anything, soft reset, button touches, until it heats up. again, this is the normal one, so i dont know how the nano will work.

i just ended up buying a 256meg flash card mp3player thats about the size of a pack of gum for 65$, and using that. it fits about 25-30 songs, enough for a playlist; and while its annoying not to have all the songs i could possibly want, i dont have to worry about breaking it, and its really small. hope that helps.

the original ipod uses a hardrive to store it data. The nano and shuffle use flash memory. you shouldnt have a problem.

i definitely agree with whoever said get a cover for the nano. the nano scratches up extremely quickly and its a bit fragile. there are a lot of issues with the nano's screen right now and apple is replacing any broken screen for free right now (or as of like 2 weeks ago when i last checked). the nano is extremely small and because of its sizem its a bit more fragile than other iPods. I have used my normal 3rd generation iPod before while skiing. I have had some issues in the extreme cold, the iPod will free up from time to time and won't reset until it heats up. but for the most part, i just left it in a pocket on the inside of my jacket and really found not too many problems. hope this helps.

Go to Target, get a 30 dollar cd player that comes with headphones. and im dead serious, they work good. i have an ipod and they r ok, but its not worth the money.

i have a normal ipod and i have noticed shorted battery life in the winter but keep it on the inside pocket of yer jacket and you'll always get 80-100% of yer reg battery life, keep in mind that the other part of the shortened battery life is the fact that yer anti-sctatch hard drive thingy is running because of all the movement

dont get the ipod nano wait till the seocnd version comes out cus the have problems wiht the nanos rigght now such as the screen cracking the new ipod nano is pretty much a beta version that they just get people to test and they make money off of it

yea its also a pretty common thing for apple to do just get the regular 20 gb it's only $50 more and so much harder to loose

yup thats the one concern I had with the nano, its soooo damn small I think it would be weightless on me and I would loose it for sure... the regular ipod at least as a little bit of weight to it but could def break easier

Hey

Thanks for all of the responces. The only stupid one that I saw was this one. There is no way it will loose it's charge in 45 min or 15 with the back light on. If you have one and this happens to you then you have a faulty nano. If you heard this from someone their bs'ing you. I did read that article a while ago and it was pretty impressive.

And yes I have to agree with waiting for the second gen Nano to come out, but i'm not sure how long thats going to be and when I get my Nano i'm order a black leather case by Incase to keep it protected. Therefore when the second gen comes out and if theres big improvements i'll just resell first gen for a good price and pay the rest.

I'm not in need of a Nano, more of a want right now because i have a Rio mp3 player which holds 30 songs and has a upgradeable memory. Another crappy thing is that Apple discontinued the iPod Mini line as well as the U2. I heard the Mini was pretty kick ass, smaller then the iPod bigger then the Nano but more durable and a fair size memory.

deffinitley go for the L Ten 4 jacket and like it said above Siver makes the Ten 4 insulated or shell most places carry it both ways if your someone that gets cold go for the insulated in the spring its got awsome vents on both sides the whole side zips right up to the sleeve. So ya thats what i'd do and i'd call around for the best price prob proctorjones.com though since they are usually the lowest.

A large in Siver? Someone above said get a M because they are one size lower then most fits. I'm 5'10 and 160 and I don't want anything too baggy, so should it be L or M?

As for the iPod Nano running otu of juice in 45 min there must be a problem with it, i'd go to the nearest Apple store or email them and tell them about it, that can't be right.
