Question about helmets

So I have been using the same helmet for like 5 years, and it still looks fine and all that, im just wondering after a certain amounts of hits to the head do they wear out and should a helmet be replaced after a certain amount of time?

yup, definitaly, the plastic wears out from the cold and becomes weaker over time.

yeah, Giro, says about every 3 years to replace the helmet, i think you can send it back and they will give you a discount, or maybe tahts on broken ones, im not to sure, but 3 years is the time to switch

Replace it, and take 2 helmets and send me one, i smashed mine into a tree

each tim eyou fall, you compress the foam padding on the inside more and more till it wears out and becomes less effective. thats totally not safe and you should get it fixed

Get a Giro helmate with a skullcandy hook-up. Sickest helmets out there. It's all about the link system.

actually, in a major impact, most helmets protect your head via the foam cracking and absorbing the energy. After one hard fall, the majority of the protection offered by the helmet has been minimized.

yeah as a rule if im dazed after a hit i replace the helmet. and definitely after a concussion.

sorry dude my head isnt a xl, it was with my dreads but no more.

I should have repleaced my helmet long ago, especially since some of it melted by a fire 2 years ago, i just never really thought much about it.
