k i know there are like 20 threads about hellbents but i need an answer quick and the other threads don't help me.

Im 5'11, 175lbs. should I be fine with the 189?, becuase its all the shop here carries. I wouldnt mind getting 179 but i just wanna know if the 189 will be better for me or if i should go somewhere else and get a 179.

thanks

Hey Daner,

I'm About the exact same size plus an inch, and i skied 174's last season, and they were fun and all but for backcountry i say add length. Hellbents i would say step up to 189 cause they are for backcountry afterall and rockered ,extra ski can't hurt, I'll be on 185's this year as my park ski so im sure you can handle the 189's

Where do you plan on mounting them?

italics are stuck, good luck

Just remember the 179 is more like 185 and the 189 is mroe like 195...a ski that's 122 underfoot and 195cm long is going to be a biatch unless you're a superhero.

ya since there rockered i think that would take away running area making them seem shorter when you're skiing them.

keep in mind they are allready heavy skis. the 189/194 is much heavyer then then 179/184, it has more material in it to make it stiffer. your going to be having a lot of ski to be moving around when you want to spin, are skiing in the trees or just want to slash a quick turn, and of course hiking. you could have your shop special order the ski for you.

I asked Andy his opinion on this a month or so ago and he said he would use his 189 for the steep charging, burly lines and the 179 for everything else. He didnt even use the 189 last year in idea.

Hope that helps,,,it helped me in that i would probably go for the 179 after andy's feedback.

for jumpin and freestylin and stuff a 179 deff would suit better...

but for skiing lines and pow turns (a.k.a. normal skiing) 189 would do

yea man im geting the 179 i took the 189 back b/c id just rather have a ski that i could play around on and ski everything and have fun on in the backcountry or just skiin trees n shit. Plus if andy sais 179.. then im thinking 179 is it. its obviosly still gunna be amazing in deep powder becuase its sorta made for it

This question is too vague.

How do you plan on skiing this ski?

Are you looking to slay burly lines? Or playful lines with spins, tight trees, ect...

Burly lines, go big.

Tight trees, spins, playful, go with the shorter length.
