Question about Film Photography

I have a quick question about film. First off i bought a minolta x-370 and had it for a day and somehow the shutter got stuck, i understand this is common for minolta x series cameras. Anyone have this problem before?

Next i have a question about light metering. Ive always wondered how to know what your photo will look like on film (overexposed/underexposed) since unlike my t2i there isnt a preview live mode thing. Then i heard about light meters and have never really understood it. I youtubed it and i still havent wrapped my head around it. Does it show you what your photo will look like according to your apeture/shutter speed/iso? Any insight will be extremely helpful.

Lastly im wondering which is a better camera to be shooting film on. Canon tlb or AE-1?

Sorry for the noobness.

light meters simply tell you what aperture to use to properly expose your image when you enter the film ISO speed and shutter speed you'd like to shoot at

Yeah man, theres one in the camera you have. may or may not work, lightmetres in older cameras tend to be the first thing to go. Just find the manual for your camera online and spend an hours or two reading it and fiddling with the camera.
