Question about demo bindings

So I bought skis off ebay and they have demo bindings on them. I really dont want them on there as demos. Can I remove the adjustable demo part and mount the binding? they are marker comp 1400 if that helps. And another question, how are they mounted to skis?

Yes I know there are a couple threads about demo bindings and I posted on one but no one answered my question.
 
You can only mount them with the demo plates. You'll have to slide off the heel piece and toe piece (total bitch sometimes), then remove the plates on the ski.
 
i had demo bindings on my trouble makers for 3 years and never had a problem, in fact i thought they were kinda goos cause you could move the whole binding from center mount to more back mount. if they are a quality binding i would leave em alone, remounting only weakens the ski.
 
not true - the markers can be removed quite easily from their demo plate and for a couple of bucks you can get the normal "air pad" base plate for them. The mounting points for the demo plate and normal binding are very different and you should have no rpoblem finding a clean section of ski to drill some new holes....just remember to plug the old holes - any busy ski shop should be able to help you find new base plates - if not call marker's customer service and they can hook it up

 
Really? Marker must think things through more than other companies, I've never seen a demo binding that could be mounted without the plates.
 
you def cant make them into a reg binding- you are stuck with the demo plate.

as the guy above says, they do have advantages, but the tradeoff is they are heavy and, depending on the model, you can have probs with pre releaing of the heel piece with big lateral pressures (ie spinning). ive had that problem with both tyro and look demo bindings in the past.

you can do some creative modifications to lock the heel piece in place (i run an old pair of scratch bc with modified tyro demo binding as my fuck around ski), but if your planning on riding hard on the ski, esp if your riding park, id rip the binding off, get urshop to plug the holes and remount a new binding where you want. a ski once remounted is not significantly weaker than a virgin ski.
 
just read guy above re marker. hadnt heard that either, but ive never run markers. hope that works out for you.
 
The toe and heel piece are the same as normal bindings...they are attached to the roulette wheel demo plate with shorter srews -

insert screwdriver rotate left - remove

next - remove demo plate from skis -

fill holes with plugs

Take toe/heel pieces and place over airpad for normal marker 14free bindings - insert normal mounting screws

take marker jib - find clean ski - drill (i suggest using a bit one size small than recommended for extra bite

place bindings over ski - insert screwdriver rotate right

DONE
 
yeah i had demo bindings on my first pair of twins, the old blue and white 1080's It was cool cause i could fit them to a buddy's boots it i wanted to... Worked well for jibbing too when i got another pair of skis.
 
Yeah I dont want them on my skis that I take to the hill regularly because they are hot target to steal because the do fit all boots...And they are heavy as shit. I am gonna take them off and mount them on my urbans
