Question about Corked spins

2 Dumb Questions for ya:

1) A corked spin is different from a regular spin because you lean back slightly, right? (But, I've heard some people say you lean to the side...)

2) Either way that you lean, why the hell do you come back to level in time to land?

My mind is boggled. Help out a down brother guys.

 
you just do, if you do it right, its actually more natural than a regular spin. Try flipping a pop bottle or something like that. you'll see that it naturally comes back around.

its not the weight..its just some physics thing. when you spin a top and it wobbles to the side, it straigtens back up..same with people..if ur spining and go off axis..you will straighten out.. but i think u have to be spinning...thats why the corked straight air doesnt exist

and its not like you just go back and then miraclulously come back up, when u go corked u start off back, then side ways, then forward. i wouldn't worry about it, it just happens for some reason.....

you sure can fuck up a cork though... its not like a top like these mothafuckas say... it should work if you know the rotation... but if you just guess it might work or it might not.

no you cannot do a cork straight air... but yes you can get sideways on a straight air... and for those mothas who dont believe me then shut it.

u can do it leaning forward or back, cause ive seen both, but if u do it leaning back make sure u dont do a d-spin cause they can be confused

spinning corked foward is Bio :) that really hard thats where u start the off axis spin leaning foward instead of back which is way way easier to do. Ya i don't know how you come back to land on your feet but i am not about to question it i like the way it works out. It also feels alot better then spinning like a balerena :)

 
some people iv seen spin is sideways..not back..and some people do it falling back with barely any sideways in it..just do whats comfortable..visualize!

Ya, I do it mostly backwards, and end up forwards on the landings. (for 7's)

I dunno, it just happens. Isnt a forward cork spin a rockbottom? a sideways cork is a bio.

A cork is a spin leaning back until you are perpindicular with the ground or i should say the pull of gravity, if you dont have it all way you are not corked, you are off axis. A bio is cork done by leaning forward instead of back. A misty is a slightly inverted cork to the left (if you spin natural) and just so there's no confusion, A MISTY IS NOTHING LIKE A RODEO!!! in any way shape or form.

There, i said it, and i feel great.

I'm as close to god as you'll ever get....
 
yeah, you can pretty much cork out a spin on any axis that you want, whether it be side, back, other side or forward...But it usually goes from one axis to another, like side to back, or back to side, or forward to side...but it does that part naturally

watch the video on the site of moselys dinner roll run (actually a cork 720, not a dinner roll) and you'll see him do the first 360 corked to the back and the second 360 corked to the side.

If you do a bio it's pretty much the same and you start forward and go to the side.

Mistys are usually just the side.

I'm as close to god as you'll ever get....
 
you gotta be careful with this, because if you're body is off the correct degree while spinning you will be doing something other than a corked spin... and there's only a 2degree margin for error. you gotta be careful and not do past that - 'cause than you'll be in d-spin country... anything above it is off-axis... and you damn will better not be doing a bio, misty, rodeo, rockbottom, or other stupid fuckin' name for a spin... (my point is - they're all off-axis spins just thrown differently and everyone has their own variation on every trick, we're not inventing any new tricks off of tables anytime soon so there's no point in putting a strict name on anything - just throw what looks and feels cool.

why does everyone hate trick names...if it's a different trick, it should have a different name, and they all logically make sence...none of them overlap, and people know what you're talking about if you use names...it takes 2 minutes to figure them out

 
uu - have you paid attention to this site much? half of the kids here are absolutely clueless as to what trick is what... most know the names, but don't know the actual trick, just take guesses... and have like huge arguements about what a critical grab is...

and nameing shit is good when you are still progressing in the creation of tricks... but i mean, who really gives a shit if he did a corked 7 or a d-spin 7? it's an off-axis 7 that either looked cool or didn't.

i totally care...there's a lot of difference between a cork 7 and a d-spin 7...they are very similar looking, but you have to do different things in the air to avoid landing straight on your head...and as for the people who dont know the tricks...look at the tricks page, or ask someone who does know, like ced, or chris muldoon, or anyone else on here who knows what they're talkin about

it's all about trying to find the real name for th trick..

I do a flippy spinny thing since last year and people are still calling it either a bio, a misty a flat spin and some other bname...

Err there's no real magic to it, it's with your shoulders (actually you're whole torso) and your head. After the first 3 you really want to start looking for the landing, and your torso needs to open up that way, if your torso is reaching for that point the rest of you is going to follow. For all of you that have ever gone corked and well... just kinda stayed there and landed on your back after the 7, it's all about 'opening up' and getting back all straight-like and correct to land after the first 3.

Pop bottles and objects that have unique center of gravities do all kinds of stuff. The direction of torque at any moment during some kind of spin is determined by the center of gravity of the object. Flip a remote control like you want it to do a backflip, but it will throw 180's in there because the batteries are usually in the bottom and the center of gravity is closer to the bottom.

 
there's so much difference between a d-spin 7 and a cork 7...besides if you call them all 'off axis spins' then my big bag'o'tricks is reduced by like half....and if you say 'off axis spins' you might as well say 'off axis flip' so you'll have 4 tricks you can do..a straight spin, an off axis spin, a straight flip and an off axis flip....and i dont care about trick names that much, i just think it's really easy to keep track of them, and alot easier to use them when talking to other people

# of names fro off axis tricks = Bio, Cork, D-spin... thos three terms at tho most should be the only 1ce used..if u get 2 more degrees off axis then some one else in a cork spin it dosnt need a new name... keep it simple...

 
Dude you forgot rodeos and misties. Seems like most people call rodeos flat spins now. There is and isn't a difference depending on who you talk to. Bring back the damn misty flip. Misty 5 japan looks dope.

rodeos and mistys are different though...they're way more off axis than cork/bio/d-spin...they're pretty much an off axis flip with a spin, not just an off axis spin...and yes, a flatspin is different than a rodeo even though everyone calls rodeos flatspins
