Question about camps

aight so im beginning to save some money for the high north adult session next summer. what i wanna know is if they have a pipe or if it's only slopestyle

every camp seems to *claim* that they have their own superpipe. from what i've heard, sometimes this superpipe is actually the publicly shared one.

this is a quote from the High North website:

Skiing in the half pipe has gone through the roof in the past year and High North is the place to get it dialed. It doesn’t matter if you’ve never dropped in before, we’ll have you riding it with style and confidence before you go home. We have exclusive use of a Super Pipe with 17 foot transitions which is actually the safest and easiest sized pipe to ride because the transitions you’re landing on are longer and more forgiving.

as i mentioned before, other camps will claim that they have the only private pipe.

maybe if ppl who have been to ski camp at whistler could tell us...

The Superpipe we use is actually the Blackcomb public pipe. It is NOT inside our exclusive terrain area. We have early access to it from 11am onwards. - coc

sms has their own pipe but it wasn't too pretty when i was there for sure

high north has thier own pipe, its a super pipe w/ 17 ft transitions. Fucking great place to be. enjoy it

 
High north doesnt have their own pipe but they have rights to one until about noon. What separates HN from other camps is that they give a shit about what their campers ride, even if it isnt their terrain. I remember 1st sesh one year skiin' a weak pipe, shane pressured BC management and we got a sweet pipe, comparable to a good pipe out west.

High North has their own private camp but not their own pipe, they share it with a snowboard camp. HN is sweet though, message me or check my article in the articles section if you have any questions. As for the guy who started this thread (I can't remember who it was as I'm a little saucy), I was going to go to the adult session last year (I was 21 at the time) but as at the time I signed up Whistler was having a sub par snow year I was pretty concerned about whether or not they'd have much to work with by the time the adult session came around. I chose session 2 instead and there was noticeably less snow and more water springing up each day so I think I made the right choice. That being said Whistler has had a much better year so far so the adult session might be totally fine.

last year there were 2 pipes right next to eachother, and we had 1 for us and the snowboarders had the other one, so i thought it was exclusivly highnorth only. in any case you got plenty of time to session it with out other kids gettin in the way

 
Ok - so here is how it works.

There are 3 pipes on the glacier every summer, one for the public to use, which NO one has access to until after the 11:00 am upload time from the valley (so in reality, its almost noon before its open). After that time, anyone on the glacier can use it - camp, public, you, me, whomever.

The other 2 pipes are rented out to camps. One is shared by Coast Mountain Snowboard and Glacier Snowboard Camp, the other is rented by High North/Momentum. On one has access to those pipes other than the camps that have rented them for that day.

Due to geography and where the snow and best areas are, those pipes are not inside the terrain for each camp, but there is no one else other than those camps using them.

in any case the pipe is never overburden with skiers, and you'll get to session it as much as you want

 
okay, this is my understanding... someone mensioned that COC had their own pipe, they DID, but they took it down to make room for rails/other shit.

dave murray shares a pipe (imo the best) with a snowboard camp called glacier snowboarding (all they have is the pipe, nothing else)

high north shares a pipe with SMS i belive, and from the 2 weeks i was there last year, they didnt bother to groom it at all, rendering it almost useless

 
im goin ses. 5, i bet it'll be fair, i mean less kids, they still will have the terain open i hope

 
Are the adult camps any better or worse than the regular camps?

i heard that the adult session was kinda weak actually, this one guy who i know went to both, and he said it was a way better vibe with just the reular sessions
