the letters s, k, and i, never appear in succession in that poster; no skiers. I was amazed that last year skiers were a part of it, not to mention $3500 in cash prizes. But... no surprises here.

You would think Krush would have figured out that snowboard railjams are boaring, affter the bellevieu rail jam, where despite skiers having less then a 4th of the time then boarders, the crowd was 3 times as stoked on the skiing as the boarding. All skier attmepted atleast a 270 off or a switch up. but it took some boarders till the finals to make it to the end of the rail.

I don't think so man.

Some skiers never made it to the end, and Some boarders did some baller shit. Way more variation.

David buckingham almost had the front blunt, he was the only one that never made it, and he was tryting some ridiculous shit. Cory noble destroyed shit, and both blake and austin did well too.

And I wouldn't say the skierss got the crowd anymore hyped than the snowboarders.

You're just hating because skiers aren't included. But there's no reason to hate on the boarders, hate on krush kaluza, because he is retarded.

overall if you get the same level of tallent in skiers vs, snowboarders skiing will be much more intertaining.  I saw maybe three- 5 snowboarders who consistantly distroyed it, there were atleast 3-4 skiers who were killing it too, and there were half as many skiers as snowboarders. And sure snowboard rail jams can be fun to watch if you know what the different tricks are and how difficult they are, but the average joe can not tell the difference between a lipslide and a regular rail slide, or when a boarder is going switch. and a noes press or 5-0 is not much more intersting to them then a 50-50. The crowd can tell when a skier goes switch, or does a switch up, Snowboarding is cool and  all, and there are definatly some good riders but sking is more fun to watch. And yes Krush is a dick.

I disagree; The crowd definitely got louder when the skiers were up. There's no doubt that some of the boarders were throwing down, but skiers were just a little more entertaining. It seemed like the box was stickier for the skiers and thus produced more crashes and "ooohs and awws" from the crowd. Once skiers were done and it was the snowboarders' turn, Krush had to ask the crowd to make noise for the boarders.

I somewhat agree xavier

Most of the kids there were boarders, so they can tell the variations though.

And to the other guy, krush asked for noise during the skiers too.

If you count "oohhs' and "awws" from crashes as crowd hype, then you're sadly mistaken.

As said before, 80% percent fo the people there were either parents of snowboarders, snowboarders, or snowboard posers. SOOOOO many kids were talking so much cheese about and to the skiers. Blatant disrespect from all the kids who just don't get that skiing can just as fucking baller.

I agree, I want skiing in it too, but theres no reason to call out the snowboarders, go firebomb krush's van. Oh wait, it's in the snoqualmie park now. fucking bum.

I saw your tall ass towering over a bunch of kids at the throwdown haha. You're not very sneaky for an asian.

I'm just saying the skiers were a little more entertaining to watch. Some of the boarders ate shit, but more of the skiers did (and in a more dramatic manner). Also, boarders went for a really long time. I think the crowd was glad to see a change in athletes.

lol, so whoever crashes more gets more credit? how the fuck does that work. The only reason there was more hype was because people were excited about falls, not the riding abilities. How does skiers crashing more make it more reasonable for them to be in the seattle throwdown?

I was talking about crowd reactions during Sturts' Bellevue Throwdown and wasn't necessarily making much connection to the Seattle one. It was obvious that people were stoked on skiers in large part b/c of crashes; thats all i'm saying.

About the Seattle Throwdown though, the more Sturts supports freeskiers, the more cred they will establish for themselves. They're already on the road to improving their image by going through with the Bellevue Throwdown, but anything they can do to include skiers would work in their favor.

There was only really a couple of skiers eating shit, and only one badly eating shit. but it was a long time ago my memmory might not be so good, but overall the whole thing was not worth skipping homecoming. Of the two shit shows, I should have chosen the one indoors that hopefully leads to sex.

Its pretty funny how much I've changed, normally I would have an opinion on all this.

But for now I really don't give a shit

It's unfortunate that the Bellevue setup hindered any really standout performances. That box was just... sticky and lame. There were some pretty smooth and cool tricks on behalf of both, but really, there wasn't much that could be done, even compared to the two previous Bellevue events and the Seattle one last year. That said, it definitely seemed that people were not as thrilled when boarders went, save a few people. There were people leaving during the first round of boarders who were quite dissimpressed. Kohl and I were heckled (maybe not quite heckled) by a group of people who thought the snowboarding was boring to watch, hence they were leaving.

People who aren't affiliated with a sport get wired up when they see crashes and stuff that they can't as easily identify with. That doesn't mean of course that skiing is more qualified than boarding. But I think the Bellevue jam exemplified something that is present in most rail jams, almost regardless of where you go. You could look at rail jams in the state (downtown throwdown from the prior years and this year), and in the region: the rail comp and Vegetate at Meadows, the one held at Schweitzer during Stomp Games, and even the ones during TWSSF in Whistler: many snowbaorders don't really push the envelope (doesn't mean crashes), at least to the point where the spectators have large interest, and as a consequence, the crowd isn't as entertained or energetic. At both Vegetate and Stomp Games, I remember the emcees (both of whom were boarders) mention during the event that the crowd was bored during the boarders, but no such need to say anything like that during the skiers.

When you get to high level rail competitions, and where there is an appropriate venue, skiers do throwdown, as do boarders. I have only respect. But when it comes to pleasing spectators (why would people and companies sponsor an event that people were bored/indifferent about it?), skiing seems to be more aesthetically engaging.

the bellevue setup was pretty bad. krush is always the man because he works his ass off to get these things going, but the idea of a dragon box as an urban setup just doesn't work very well. And as far as the crowd being more stoked on the skiers, i think they got really pumped on how much harder you guys were falling. no disrespect, thats just how it seemed

stop using the falling as an excuse to say the crowd was more hyped on the skiers. If the snowboarders were getting broke off like some of the skiers, then it would have been the same story. Crashing hype to me isn't what you want, it's not good exposure, however it is entertaining.

Crashes on skis look way more intense than on a board. You don't have legs and poles and skis flying everywhere. Thats why the crowd gets excited, because they see what they think is a "stupid" skier, and think it's comical how hard they fall.

There is just a bigger market for the snowbard division. Thats why they push it, and have so many more events.

And I agree with grant in the fact that the setup was pretty weak, and hindered a lot of people from doing their best tricks. Terrible idea. I disagree where you say that boarders don't push the envelope. Just because the average Joe can't tell the difficulty of a trick, doesn't mean that they aren't being innovative. Nick jones for example. Halfcab 5-0 back 180 out? and he didn't even placee I don't think. Look at guys likke yudo, austin, David buckingham, little austen (who's 16 btw). I would say they all pushed the envelope, and didn't even place.

sounds pretty fun, disiponts me that skiers arjnt getting the respect they deserve, but it think ill be there.

has anyone gone to the expo? do they nice stuff like? like booths from HH, oakley, Burton etc? and hows the ski swap

rail jam looked like it could have been fun, much better speed set up, they had the down flat down from last year and it probably could have been disastered. also had a long down rail. then two of those wall ride things like before with a small gap in the middle.

i was at the expo for a while and it was pretty stupid....it seemed like just a ton of gapers buying there new cool stuff.......and we left before the rail jam cuz it was snowboarders only, and some kids were hittin a rail in the building when we were there and it was lame

but yeah if anyone went to the rail jam, how was it

I didn't go to the rail jam b/c I was beat from working all day. You all seriously should have visited the swap section of the Expo...an awesome selection of this year's Orage for really really cheap (Pro Form and below)...stuff ranged from Riders Edge to Masters
