Hey guys, looking to upgrade from my beater Powerbook G4 to a new MacBook, and I'm curious if people have recommendations as to the best one for the money.
I'm not really concerned about the cost, but definitely don't want more power/expense than I need and would like to keep it under $2000.
I'm planning on buying a refurbished one, if people have any suggestions/negs/advice on that route.
As for my computer use, it's pretty standard - Internet, email, music, porn, office work, some GarageBand, etc.I have a GoPro HD and would like whatever MacBook i get to be able to comfortably make silly little edits from that...

......ok, GO!
Thanks in advance!

That's what I have, and I've had no problems with it. Apple makes dope products, and the 15" pro has enough processing power for video/music editing in my experience. I'm not running Final Cut Pro, but I run Ableton 8 suite (for music) and iMovie HD -- both decently ram intensive -- and I've never had any trouble.

i just got the 13' macbook pro. its great and lighter and a lot cheaper than the 15 so you can add more upgrades to it

to those suggesting non-Macs, call me ignorant or close-minded, but I just want a Mac, that's all. I use PCs at work and simply prefer the Mac OS and style.

To everyone else, thanks for the help, keep it comin!

i got a reg macbook. upgraded to 4g of ram and left the hard drive at 160 or whatever standard is. it's totally fine for what i do which is basically the same stuff you plan to do. i got it new for 1150. i was gonna get a pro but the 13 inch was more expensive with out any upgrading.

Look it up on apple.com or just go to a store.

I bet both have more expertise on the subject than anyone on newschoolers
