Qualifying for USASA nationals?

Anyone know the criteria for qualifying for USASA nationals? Tried to find a point total or something required and couldn't find anything anywhere

USASA contests are put into regions or series. The winner of each series qualifies for nationals. I think you can also qualify based on your national ranking but I'm not sure

2800 points required for slope out of 4(maybe 3) comp results. I just officially qualified yesterday so I'm stoked on that. Rail Jams require I think 1800 points out of 3 comps. Everything else I have no clue. The winner of each regional rank will be sent to copper for free. If you aren't #1 in rank for regionals but still qualify you have to get out there yourself

I heard it only took 3 comps, but also heard you need X amount of points. I know Im in the top 50 for age and first in my series for 16-18, no clue where that places me. I just hope to go.

Regional Series Champion:

The Regional Series Champion of each age class, male & female, in each discipline will be determined using Regional Rankings (best of 2 of 3 for RJ & HP, GS & SL, 4 of 6 for SBX / SX and 3 of 4 for SS) will be qualified for the National Championship. If the winner cannot go to National Championship the next rider in line may take that spot. Therefore, one representative from each age group, male & female, shall be given a slot to Nationals providing they have qualified as stated in the rules. In order to participate in Exhibition Banked Slalom (BS) and the National Championship, you must participate in a banked slalom event.

The gold medallists from the previous National Championship will be qualified to the current National Championship as per rule 103 The competitor requesting this slot must have qualified as stated in the rules.

All remaining openings in all age categories and venues will be filled from the National Ranking. See Rule 104 To clarify, after the above positions have been filled the next riders to be invited to the Nationals will be the highest ranking riders on the ranking list. Example: each series has qualified their winners but 20 more slots are available in that age group. Then the remaining 20 will be taken from the National Ranking list.

Win your regional series, go to nationals, profit.

How hard it is depends on what series you're in. Some are ridiculously competitive, some are pretty weak. Don't skip events or you'll lose points on other people that are hitting them.

Fuck USASA, it's full of inconsiderate bastards. Most of the kids suck in it too. If you win regionals, good job, you paid a fuck ton of money for a title that means nothing. You probably aren't as good as half the local riders at the hill you competed at. If you want to prove your worth, do it on the hill, not in an exclusive kitty club.

Have you considered that maybe we compete because we want to have fun and push ourselves? And that if we go far in the series we get excited and get a feeling of accomplishment? Most places I have competed at in the past 2 years (4) I was better than most of the locals but I got beat by the perfect aerial type form kids from mountain schools.

regional winners qualify, everyone else gets invites based on your national ranking from your top 3 scores (This can include your performance at the nationals from last year if it gives you more points than your other scores)

This. Competing isn't for everyone but some people really enjoy it. Do what makes you happy.

I have no issue with that. I have an issue with comps closing down the parks which takes away from other people having fun, where I was USASA shut down the only park the hill had. The experience I had with the people competing was horrible, they were rude, inexperienced, arrogant, and disrespected the park (kicking down lips to rails for a laugh). I know most people are not like that but it pushed me over the edge. Sorry for offending any noble competitors but in all honestly fuck those kids.

Exactly, I love competing, I'm doing a comp this weekend and I probably wont podium but I like the pressure I build myself up with and even if I eat shit on all my runs I still wouldve had fun, especially since its at Mt. Snow

This is me when I'm filming, people say filming is low pressure (it is lower than comps with limited runs) but you definitely put pressure on yourself to get your trick and make it look good, especially if friends are only down to film a few runs.

Once again, not hating on comps. I'm hating on the dirty bastards I ran into one day, I don't think I'll ever forgive them haha

stoked to finally have the money saved to make it out there this year for the first time. does anyone know what past year podium runs have been?
