Quadruples getting thrown this weekend?

So Oakley has a ridiculously huge/poppy jump setup for their shoot that they have here at Squaw. Rumor has it that some riders on the Oakley team, including Torstein and a couple of other snowboarders, will be sessioning it and going for quads. Not sure if any skiers will be involved, I think it's just for boarders, but still, pretty nutty stuff. Gonna go up there tomorrow and check it out so I'll report back for sure.

torstein has claimed, multiple times backcountry qaud cork. He'll stomp it with no helmet, first try.

taking a seat.

Is anyone surprised? Isn't this the eventual outcome we all secretly knew would happen? Skiing and snowboarding transcends and becomes Flipspinning-with-occasional-snow.

I think people should learn like every triple variation before going to quads, like how dubs were like mastered before lots of triples were landed

Yeah, fuck letting pros do whatever tricks they want, they should only do the tricks they are told to do in and only in a specific order. Maybe the FIS will provide an approved list to make things easier for them to follow.

Threads, Horgmo is the man.
I'll be really impressed if he throws a quad, but there's no way in hell that it will look stylish.

That wasn't a quad attempt, he tried to do a triple back while jerking off in the air. All perfectly logical and explained in this video

The table doesn't look that big as it has a ridiculously steep lip. Its basically a cross between a normal slope jump and an aerial jump. I didn't understand why they built a jump like that so this makes sense....but its really dumb.

just my two cents here but that jump doesnt look nearly big enough for that. looks super poppy but if it stays how i saw it the other day i cant imagine it's made for quads

I think hes still confused from the head injury. He said to the camera right before drop. QUAD FLIP FROM YOUR ICELANDIC TROLL BROTHER BITCHES!!!!

Stop that, guy. I'm pretty sure he's just stating what he he would've wanted to happen. Personally, I feel like a lot more could've been done with singles, and a fuck ton can still be done with doubles. I think we should take everything one day at a time. Nobody said anything about telling the pros what to do, you brought that up yourself.

I'm pretty sure he said "I think they should do this...". I'm pretty sure that such opinions when discussing sports like freeskiing or snowboarding are worthless - they completely miss the point that people can and will do whatever the fuck they want. He also used the example that people mastered dubs before trying triples - that's just not true. When people started trying triples the exact same thing was said ie "this is stupid, they haven't even done all dub variations yet". The same was said when people started doing dubs ie "they should do all different off-axis spins before doing dubs".

Such precribed approaches have no place in the sport in my opinion. Fuck taking evertything one day at a time - there will always be people who will concentrate on style and will have fun putting innovative tweaks on established tricks, and there will always be some people who will try and do more technical tricks that have have never been done before. Both of these approaches and everything that happens in between is what progresses the sport and prevents it stagnating into the regimented FIS type approach that freeskiing and snowboarding originally tried to get away from. It's not a choice - people can be throwing triples whilst others do new things with dubs whilst others do mind blowing stuff with 180s (eg Delorme shuffles). Isn't that why we enjoy it so much, becuase it's impossible to second guess all the different crazy things people will be doing next?

Just my two cents.

Good post bro!

ANYWAYS.

Was skiing up at Squaw today and it looks like the kickers weren't being hit, most likely due to the super high winds that were up near the ridges today. I'll be up there again tomorrow to check it out.
