Quadruples getting thrown this weekend?

Well regardless of all of what you just said, since I agree with a lot of it, I'm just gonna focus on one point: I still think everything should be taken one day at a time. If we keep progressing at this rate, we could potentially see a shit ton more failed triples and quads, resulting in more injuries and increased severity of these injurities. I understand that injuries are apart of the sport, as it is a calculated risk, but once we start seeing this exponential growth within a short period of 1 or 2 years is when we see people start to push their bounds and go way outside of their comfort zone, where one could argue they don't belong yet, and possibly injure themselves to the point of never truly recovering or even dying. That's something that I truly believe could happen. There are some pretty huge differences between crashing on a flip, to crashing on a double flip, to crashing on a triple flip, to crashing on a quad flip, and so forth. The main differences being the size of jumps, increasing the required amount of speed, and how hard one would have set such tricks. I believe you when you say that there should be no official regulations set, but like I said, no one brought that up except for you. There should be no rule set by some organization, I believe it should just be an understanding between players(lol would you call us players?) of the sport. But yeah, I guess what I'm trying to say is that we have plenty of injuries and death as is in the sport, increasing the rate of progression at such a ridiculous speed will only bring about more of these. I also just think it would be sweet if we had more people focusing on bringing the style and whatnot to an international stage, instead of only showcasing the technical side of skiing, which is essentially what has been going on for many years.

Was up at Sugar Bowl today for the Banzai race but I'm trying to hear from homies if anything went down. However, I do know that Torstein ate shit on the jump a bunch of times because he couldn't clear it. Sounds like it was a pretty gnarly few crashes. Any north Tahoe peeps out there hear of anything? I know Mark McMorris and Torstein were here in Squaw all weekend for sure though and both of them are definitely capable of going for it.

In conclusion, it sounds like the jump didn't work out for them. Or Torstein at least.

I still really don't get your argument. Pros do take it one day at a time and they generally try stuff they think they have a good chance of landing without hurting themselves. Noone wants to kill themselves or have a season ender. If a pro has triples on lock why shouldn't he try a quad if he wants to and if he thinks he can get it around? Because someone on the internet thinks the sport is progressing too fast?

Sure there's a risk of injury and death but there always has been and always will be with this sport - even when people are doing the mundane or easy. I really don't think someone who has great air sense and is hugely experienced on big jumps has an exponentially increased chance of injury or death when going for their first quad compared with their first triple - certainly not to the point where anyone has any justification in saying "slow down guys, you're progressing too fast".

Your argument still seems to boil down to the fact that you'd rather see pros doing one thing rather than another and that they should have some weird sort of self-imposed limit on how they progress and at what rate. That sort of attitude is completely antithetical to the whole sport and has no place as far as i'm concerned.

Regarding your final point about having a bigger focus on style have you had your head in the sand? Look at how popular the B & E show is, how huge P White has become, how many hundreds of edits there are nowadays of super stylish riding. The point is the sport is diverse and has plenty of room anything and everything people want to do with it.

My car is in the shop right now so I gotta find a ride up to the mountain today so if I get up there, I'll take one. If not, then tomorrow for sure.
