A: dealing with the fact that you are the only one on the mountain with skis and the persistent heckling and stupid comments you get all day long.

Hiking up the grand staircase on timp isnt hard. This hike is like going to a place you cant even imagine.

The views before bed of what was to be skied in the morning, these arent hard to take in at all.

Waking up in the morning isnt hard at all. Thats when the lighting is the best.

The hardest part of making your way to the summit hardest part is stopping for a photo.

Getting closer to the peak. Hard?

Pushing to a summit with a heavy pack? A little hard.

Taking in the view of emerald lake from the top. We spent the night down there, thats also where the skiing ends. Taking in this view is easier than staying warm last night.

Looking down at this with ski boots on NOT HARD. my motherships helped me alot, the snow was tough but i could easily charge all the way to the lake, getting even a few good carves. ski to lake pack up camp head home.

14 mile round trip hiking boots on skis and boots on my pack. about 800 vertical skied. deffenately worth it.

reading this and looking at these pictures makes me want to get up and leave the midwest and go do what i love

Awesome photos, thanks for sharing.
You're fortunate to have that kind of stuff in your backyard, I've got to travel nearly five hours to even see mountains like that.

Thanks for posting this. There is nothing that would seem better right now than a trip through the mountains out in nature with some skis and some turns. Just the thought of fresh mountain air on the face skiing in August practically has me drooling right now.

Despite some wet years, the drought continues to take a toll on the now

sometimes invisible “glacier”. Notice in this photo from September

2003, that the surface ice and perpetual snowfield has once again

melted completely. When comparing the photos from almost 100 years ago,

they are just a reminder of what the “glacier” used to be.

if anyone still cares to ski timp here is a video that my buddie did that day. i think its funny that a mountain goat was watching people slide down the snow.....
