PX 12's heavy?

So i am thinking of buying either the look px12's from last year or two years ago. the difference in price im getting is about 40 bucks.
my question is, ive heard that the PX12's from 2006/2007 were really heavy. are the ones from last year just as heavy or have they lightened up? also, how much heavier are we talking than other bindings? overall would it be worth the extra weight just to have a really solid binding over a crappier one?
also i can get a better deal on the lifted px12s. ive heard you can just take the lifters off and mount them using shorter screws and a small 1-3 mm pad instead of the ginormous 6-7 mm pad it comes with. is this true and how willing should my shop to do this?
thanks guys.

As said, they aren't that heavy. Your arms will notice more of a difference between a px12 and griffon than your legs will.

As for lifters, yes you can have your shop grind the screws down (will be extra money for sure) or get a hold of shorter screws somehow. Now you say go from the 6mm-7mm lifter to mounting with the 3mm, but you are actually getting things a little twisted. There are 2 types of lifters on px12's. There is the huge plastic one and then the 3mm "shock absorber" (although they aren't exactly 3mm, they vary by forward/back holes and toe/heel pieces) that comes with the px12 jib. So you won't be going from the big lifter plate to the small lifter plates, you'll just be going no lifter plate at all.

I just heard that you still needed some kind of pad/plate thing so that the slide on the binding heel piece would still work (from my searchbar investigations). not sure if this is true or not though.
and is there a noticeable difference in weight between the 07s and the 08s?

like what horizen said, don't worry too much about about how heavy they are in your hand. I don't see why people make a big deal about weight anyways, the weight isnt going to vary that much for most bindings your going to put on a park ski anyway. same with boots.

not that heavy. and a solid ass binding. as for the lifters. yeah. you can yank em off, you just need shorter screws. as far as i know, no mini lifter either. you can just mount em flat.

idk... i guess not that heavy but def a difference with that and griffons, but i ride px12s and def dont mind it. they are strong too. and i would recommend mounting without the lifters

I have PX 12 Jibs

and they are slightly (very slightly) heavier then my Rossi Scratch bindings

But, seriously, they are fine. And they are super strong.

A)they are heavier, you notice when you carry your skis not whenthey are on your feet

B) You can take the lifters off, just get smaller screws, just have yoru shop grid it down/find smaller screws

C) in one season i went through around 4 pairs of Solomon s912ti, the next season i got the power 14s and they are the best binding i have ever rode i love them

hahahaha dude the only different between the regulars and the lifters is two tiny plastic risers like you put on a skateboard...they probably add like a 10th of an ounce to the weight
seriously though, get some PX's or the rossi scratches or any of the other identical bindings like that, theyre all i ride and they're totally great. im about to order some px 12 jibs with wide brakes for my new moments
