Ok so I am planning on building a rail from three PVC pipes with a 2" diameter and have it be 10 feet long.... BUT, I have heard alot of people saying that PVC cracks and it's not good, and I know its really cheap, but I dont want to have to rebuild it again....

so PVC pipe yes or no?

i wouldnt, i have a rail in the works right now, its about 8.5 feet long and crotch worty without snow, I bought two steel rails to make a double barrel and its not expenisve at all. Its gonna be sooo sick ill post some pics when its done.

but yea i wouldnt use pvc if u plan to use it for years. I dont like pvc either cause it slides to unrealy fast and your edges shave it and sometimes catch

go pvc

^how did you attach the pipes? did you drill through the top and screw in on the bottom, or countersink and have the screw through both...?

maybe he used those things that are plastic and kinda curve if you dont know what im talkin bout go look under your sink there will prob be 1 or 2 there

i believe my brother used a heat gun to melt and then bend the pipes. Then screwed small holes into the bottom of the PVC, put lag bolts into the wood, and then hammered the pvc into place

pvc is fine, as long as

1) you dont have sharp edges

2) Its not like -30 all the time

3) your not doing disasters onto it

If your going to make one, make it goood.

get 3" diameter and rip some 2x4s to support it. then you can interchange the pipes on different setups using countersunk bolts. its the easiest way to go but isnt as easy as two 2" pipes next to eachother

pvc is the shit. and IF the pipes crack you buy new ones for 10$ and put them on... if i were you id go longer then 10 feet.

yeah 10feet is boring go with like 20 specially for a back yards its way more fun

For example I am making a 20 foot fdf out of pvc and that will last a while

Longer then 10 ft, pvc is good, and forgiving on a fall, it won't break for awhile unless you do some SERIOUS jibbing...
