pvc vs metal rails

i think that ski areas should start using pvc rails instead of metal because metal tears up your skis so fast and pvc doenst you can bend pvc by heating it up. pvc is the only thing my ski area has and it doesnt tear up your edges it just stains skis with white p-tex

 
yah, its a good idea, but it wears down alot faster than metal. if theres alot of people at your resort that do rails, the PVC would wear down in a week or so. but if there isnt alot of people that do rails then it would be perfect

its easier to work with if youre making it yourself cause you can easily drill through it. Just replace it also if it breaks

oh my....NEVER USE PVC!!!!!! NEVER!!!!!! just look in my profile and look at my video 'rail to rail break' or somethin. you'll see why never to use them. I have broken that one and killed myself, then i broke another one later in the season and cracked my ribs, and it was only 5 inches off the ground! NEVER USE PVC!!!!!!!!!!!!! if they switch from metal to pvc they will lose money because they will sell less skis to people who fucked their own up.

^probably somewhat true... But i prefer Metal over PVC just cuz it's less sketchy. PVC can break (see video) or you can dig your edges in... oh and the proper way to mount PVC is with a wooden planks supporting it like at SMS.

the mountain i ski at is experimenting with this new stuff its like compressed plastic thats super tough, with a layer of petex on the top, its pretty sick

its slower because you're hitting the snow and the wooden things in that video. yeah it's faster but I can lock onto pvc better for some reason, I guess I'm just weird like that

With pvc you shave a little off every time someone hits it, it would be worn down in no time, plus it's wicked easy to catch an edge on that stuff.

is pvc still good for my backyard or should i try to find some metal(that would be harder).

and id like pvc better cause it hurts less but if ies easy to catch an edge ill get metal.

pvc sucks ass. it doesn't slide like a rail. it promotes bad rail sliding habbits, and is totally inconcistant. pvc is BAD

I slide some pvc at my home mountain it was not sliding fast ast metal it was so much slower

you can use pvc for a couple days, or you can use metal for like five seasons and get your lazy ass up and learn how to tune your skis

metal rails wreck your skis. there is no tuneing that can fix it.

pvc snaps so easily, plus often if you grind the rail right, it doesnt hurt your skis as much as if you are leaning back, then the rail is just digging into you edges.

I have a PVC rail at home.. and it wears down on the pvc after lots of jibbing.. i have a feeling that at a resort, those things would get torn apart..
