His name is Murphy, he's 14y old right now and has been suffering from severe artritis for the past 2y, he's been taking high doses of cortisones to counteract it and as a result of that he developed several tumors and has become incontinent...
Right now he has a lot of trouble walking and breathing + he needs to go outside every 2hours, incl. at night .....
We decided it's time to put him a sleep, the vet is gonna come tonight and put him down :(
Fuck this shit ! I love my dog and it sucks so hard to lose an animal you basically grew up with ! (i'm 19 now)

Gonna miss you dawg !

Sorry to bother you with this....

oh shit dude, i had to do that a few years back, not a fun time at all. got a new dawg now tho. +++VIBES!

That sucks man, just remember, 14 is pretty good for a dog that size. I'm sure you took care of her and she had a long happy life.

I feel ya bro. Stay strong with that shit. Ik everyone is probably thinking wow its just a dog. But Good family pets can mean a lot to you. +Vibes yo.

this may sound strange, but he was like a brother to me...i had no brothers or sister and there were no kids my age in my neighbourhood, so i could only play with my dog ....he really did mean a lot to me :(

Vibes man, I don't know what I'm going to do when it comes time to put my dog down. It's a rough day :(

I feel ya man...had to do the same thing right before my graduation party. Got my dog when she was a tiny puppy when I was 6 made it all the way up to the month before my grad party and we had to put her down...she was a black lab and the only dog I ever knew.

++Vibes

fucking shit dammit. now i have to go to work all teary eyed..

and to the op - i feel you. we've had two dogs put down in the past four years and it really sucks.. took me a long time to get over them.

bummer dude. i know how ya feel. i was an only child and had to put my dog down after 16 years. shit's tough. just try and take comfort in the fact that at least he won't be suffering any longer. +vibes bro. best cure is to get a new pup.

yeah, i'd want a new dog but neither me or my parents have time to take on a new dog .... :(
thx for all the ++comments, video is really touching, i just cried like a little baby :(

I can't imagine what it's going to be like if I have to put one of my dogs down. I'm so sorry and I just wish dogs could live longer lives..

i know exactly how you feel dude except my dog just randomly got sick and in the span of four weeks we figured out she had tumors covering her back and we had to put her down...saddest day of my life..

+vibes for sure dude

dude so much vibes, ive watched one of my dogs be put to sleep, and actually found one of my dogs "asleep" in the house when i was home alone. thats the worst experience you can possibly imagine, i was mindless, i essentially blew through every stop sign to get her to the vets and then just ran in carrying her screaming. i know what you mean about your dog being a best friend. you have to understand that hes more comfortable now.

and i should not have watched that documentary at work. im all choked up.

i had a similar experience with my other dog, a small king charles spaniel who only lived to be 8y, he had some weird seizure and kept breathing very heavily, on the way to the vet, my mom was driving and i sat in the back with the dog on my lap , it got worst and worst and suddenly he just stopped breathing, right in my arms ....
++vibes to everyone who has lost a dog, take a moment to remember them, and those who still have one; give him a good hug and think about how much you actually love your pet !

Good luck dude, looks kinda like a bird dog.

My crazy cool backwoods buddy borrowed my rifle two years ago to shoot his own dog. Said he wouldn't let some stranger end the life of his good friend. Still reminds me of that scene from Of Mice And Men where they shoot candy's dog and then he regrets it later that he let someone else shoot his dog.

Anyways best of luck to ya with losing a quadrupedal pal of the best kind.

I understand that type of thinking, but I would never, ever, ever be able to shoot my own dog.

OP, vibes. I haven't been through it since I was young, but I have two now and I'm dreading the day. You just have to remember that dogs aren't like humans - they don't have a bucket list, they aren't worried about "living life to the fullest". I'm sure your dog has lived the best life he could ever imagine, and he is probably OK with the fact that its his time to go.

+ vibes man i hate losing pets
i lost one cat in august 08 he was 16 and i just turned sixteen now wed had him my entire lifei found out my other cat had cancer on my birthday and we put him down near christmas that one sucked worse because i was one of the only people that that cat liked.... he was an asshole
lost a horse
my parents gave my beagle away when i went to visit my grandparents and didnt even tell me so i didnt get to say good bye
and i dont resally care about all the fish i forgot to take care of... my fish didnt last very long

+ vibes man

that documentary hits hard

my dogs back legs are slowly giving out on him, don't think he has long left

My dog was put to sleep about a year ago. Worst day of my life :( Thanks uni-corn$ for posting that video, really made me think about my dog!

Yep, ive been pretty lucky. He was my bestfriend, and i regret about taking him for granted, when he was alive.. Havent't lost any family members in my life, so hopefully it is not going to happen soon (sorry for my bad english)

sooo sorry to hear about that...never could have a dog always wanted one but there wouldnt be anyone around to take care of it

I have two dogs of my own who are like my kids. I have millions of pictures of them and I take them everywhere with me. I can't imagine what it's going to be like when I have to say goodbye...

My heart's breaking for you man... +vibes.

These are mine. Dan's the Yellow lab. Dillon is a Goldendoodle.

This thread, and especially the video, is the first thing i have seen i on the internet that has gotten me right to the edge, if not slightly over the edge, of crying.
++ major vibes to the OP, iv been there, i know how bad it sucks. Just try to remember all the good times.

I feel you man. about 8 months ago we put our dog down who was 14. It was pretty awful.

It literally makes everything soo much better. The thought of not having a dog around (especially that one) is what really kills you. But go to a shelter and once you see one youll know its going to be that one and within a week you love that dog just as much.

++vibes man.

I remember when i had to do that to my dog. She was 18. That was hard, especially when my dad broke down in tears right in front of me when he was talking about how good of a dog she was.

holy shit 18 years for a dog is soooo long.
Anyways that does suck man. We had to do it to our dog about 4 years ago. The dog was 16 and my parents got him a month before I was born. I had never known not having a dog so to lose him was shitty as hell.
++vibes

I'm not trying to trivialize anything, just trying to put it in perspective. It sucks yes and I expressed that in my original post to the OP, but what we're talking about here is a domesticated animal. It passes and you get another and you love it just as much, if you passed and your dog was now fed and walked by someone else it would love them just as much.

I guess it's just hardest for young people who grew up with a dog and are now losing it. I mean no dog is gonna live 30 years, so as an adult when you purchase a dog you pretty much accept that it is gonna die one day in the future, that's kind of out of the scope of reality when your a 6 year old getting your first puppy.

Besides you gotta admit, you've lived a pretty happy life when you can say that losing a pet is the worst day of your life, it's sad but you'll get another. My brothers aside, I can specifically remember the day that my mother sat us down at the tender ages of 4,6, and 11 to tell us that our uncle had committed suicide. I've lost quite a few family pets and while sad days they were, it's not even close to the pain that life can throw at you when a friend or family member passes.

Also maybe as a hunter/semi country boy I just have a more callous view towards animals passing domesticated or not.

damn. so sorry to hear that.

that video made my cry.

im not looking forward to that day when my dog goes.
