Putting music on my phone

I have a lg music phone its a LG vx8300 and looks like this

I have a 1 gb mini sd card my friend gave me to put in it, but no cord to hook my phone the computer. He also gave me an adaptor to make it a full size sd card. I put the sd card in another mp3 player and went to my computer, and found the 1 gb card and put songs on it as .mp3s but when i put the card into the phone theres no music on it it was 0 K is on the card.

Is there a special format for the music or what am i doing wrong?

yoo, you gotta hit 'ok' for the menu screen... then hit 000000 (thats the service code) and at the bottom it says Music Settings.. enable mp3. otherwise you have to have wma files

does the lg have windows media player? cause on my phone(htc s720), it does so it can play almost any file. perhaps look for conversion software to convert your songs to be played on your phone?
