Purchasing A Camera

Yo, what up NS! I'm in need of a new camera...I have had my eye on the Canon T6s for a while, but recently i've been told to stay away form the rebel series (not sure why though if anyone had input on that it would be appreciated.) Anyway, I would use a new camera for skiing videos/pictures, but also I shoot photography in my free time as a hobby.

When I shoot during the ski season i'll usually shoot follow (just rolling over the knuckles on jumps not actually following off the lip) and follows on rails. I don't have a glide cam or anything fancy for a stabilizer tho, just a ghetto wooden handle with a screw in it that I screw into the tripod hole on my camera, but I also have a tripod I can use.

As far as budget goes, I'm going to be saving for a while, but at the same time I don't want to drop hella bills if you feel me.

Any help/advice would be dope! Thanks for reading!

If i were you i would buy a cheaper camera body like the t3i and then invest in a good lens for whatever you want, if you buy an expensive camera with just the "kit" lens you may feel somewhat limited

But that is the beauty of Nikon. All of their SLR's throughout the decades all used the F-mount except the nikon one series. You can take the same lenses your grandpa used on his nikon 35mm film camera and stick it on whatever new Nikon DSLR. With that being said you can find top notch used lenses, albeit manual focus, on Ebay for really cheap prices.

You are correct that they use the same mount, BUT, there is a reason every other camera company for the most part has changed their mounting system. Because Nikon has a smaller mount, it is more expensive to cram autofocus and what not into a lens with a wide aperture (this is my understanding, correct me if I am wrong, I am just relaying what i was told),

With Nikon you can toss any old lens on that you want, but I do know that Autofocus is not a standard feature on Nikon glass like it is with Canon. You can buy an autofocus 50 1.8 from canon for $100 and nikon equivalent is like $200.

Canon has it's issues, but so does every brand. Canon is a monster because it is not just a photography company, they are far bigger than Nikon.

(not to mention you can go on B&H and buy a converter for 10-40$ and use whatever the fuck glass you want, have fun tryna do that with a nikon...)

I have nothing against Canon don't get me wrong. I have a canon T3 and it was my first DSLR. I like Nikon more though just because I feel like you get more for your money in terms of features, although I feel this is a trade-off for canons superior user interface.

I don't do a lot of filming. photography is more my speed and I have very little NEED for autofocus lenses so saving money on cheaper lenses isn't much of a toss-up. That being said, manual lenses aren't for everybody.

I will agree though modern Nikon lenses do tend to be slightly more expensive

GH3

Literally everything adapts to it

1080p 60 for a lot less then you would get it for canon for

Some really good video features

i had the t3i until i snapped the lcd screen off and then got the t6s. the quality is quite a lot better than the t3i although in daylight i bet you couldn't tell the difference. however the lowlight is a lot better.

i would say get a sony a6000 or panasonic GH3 or 4 instead.
