I would definatly go for punk. infact I hate most rap exept Mystical and Prodigy

>>>

if it is popular it is not cool so I do the unpopular thing to be cool-'some shit face in the hall'

Bawbs-Sam Prekop, Archer Prewitt, Thrill Jockey, etc?????????

I hadn't even turned around, pulled my pants down,or sat down.I was vomiting, pooing everywhere, pissing and crying all at the same time.

ya punk is the best! and I guessed Prodigy was rap but what are they then?

wait, isnt there prodigy, and THE PRODIGY? i dont listen to either punk or rap but i thought that the prodigy was some shitty as techno group and prodigy was some rapper.

'you ski? oh wow no one skis anymore.'- my cousin's friend

its all about prefrence really

i like both rap and punk. i listen to punk to get me pumped up and rap to get me in a groove.. or are they the same thing? ah, what the fuck ever, they're both good

'pro - peagna? What the fuck is that?' - my friend looking at my Propaganda DVD (he's not to bright)

'nah im still going to ski, im just going to board when im... bored...' darryl hunt

i personally like punk much better. unfortunately you can you can't really dance to it besides mosh. rap is better to dance to when you want to get freaky lol.

luv,

Sonya

or do you possibly mean the rapper, prodigy of mobb deep? i can't agree that punk music is way better. I think the right kind of rap is far superior. Conscious rap like common or mos def is amazing, and dialated people. It's artists like Nelly, mystical, and all that trendy stuff that makes rap look like shit.

i'm more into punk but on the hill i like to listen to hip hop actually i like to listen to punk on the hill as well

You can't compare the two at all. They are totally different. Complete opposites of the musical spectrum.

I don't see how you can compare good rap as being better than good punk. The way I see it, most rap gives very little incite into life at all, and it is rarely profound. Nothing gets me better than genius versus, thought out instrumentation, and a melodic chours that just rocks, everytime i listen to strung out, thrice, brand new, and the get up kids, among many many others, I feel like I'm gaining something by listening to it, and combined w/ my views helps shape my thoughts on life positively. Rap and hip hop is great at the clubs, and at frat parties when you're dancing w/ girls, and even fun to listen to, but musically I think it falls short of good punk.

well, they both suck, or at least most of both, some of rap and punk is all right

i am not knocking like dialated peoples or swollen members or anything, but it is people like snoop dogg and nelly and eminem that are all commercial and shit, and mtv and pop, etc.

What has a whale done for you lately?

what the hells wrong with eminem, hes got some super fat songs, with punk speed and rap lyrics he kicks ass, but rap is more to put you in a groove, while punk(older stuff, misfits, vandals, minor threat, pennywise) is meant to get you pumped up

Don't drink and park, accidents cause people.

the point of this posting was because there a lot of punk people and a lot of rap people on this site and I just wanted to see who there was more of and what bands they like. personally I go for Punk. for those people here who like neither what do you like? other than Ska and Punk I like Ben Folds Five

Eminem commercial...? Ok... find one song where he raps about having something like a bentley or talking about his bling bling, and rims.

it depends on what mood youre in. by the way, snoop dogg is not commercial. hes been around since the early 90s

who said rap can't be profound? check out verses from Public Enemy, I mean maybe not profound like 'oh my god I'm John Milton and I'm blind but it's okay because blah blah blah' but it's hard-hittin' and has changed society drastically. and NWA's 'Boyz in the Hood' is perhaps the best satire ever and Prev from Swollen Members has awesome rhymes. and I'm not defending rap cuz I'm biased, i'm more of a punk guy myself

i listen exclusivly to gawth industrial... bauhaus and the sisters of mercy... im so gawth that i pass the time by attempting to ressurect people at the local cemetery at night.

-thespinstopshere-

apples and oranges dude. I kinda like both. But I would never strictly listen to one or the other. There is too much shit punk and shit rap out there.

What is the point of this thread? We all have different tastes so it is pointless saying one is better than the other.

FM sucks, Raps dead, hip hop is a joke how dumb it is, and PUNK is the best by any shot.

its never gona die, and its just cool, and all round rad! can't say more, too good.

Lagwagon. Is it legal to marry a band?

whoever said they like rap cuz its the best for dancing to or something...

i dont know about that really, but i think that if u wanna dance and shit like that, why not dance to music that was made to be danced to, like maybe dance music, or rave/hardcore shit?

ah nevermind im just an idiot, leave me alone

What?

What is punk? I really dont know what punk is now a days. On MTV they try to tell me that Blink 182 and Good Charlotte are punk. Gutter punks say it has to be the Unseen or Anti-Flag. Personally I like 'punk' as in the Misfits (with danzig) The Ramones, Fear, and older bands like that...the new stuff just doesnt seem all that interesting. As for rap I hate most rap but I love old stuff, plus you have to love House of Pain. Good this whole new trend for the Strokes, Vines, and Hives...that pisses me off too another example of music companies ruining a good thing and over exposing it to the point of it becoming annoying as all hell. The one thing I havent gotten sick of lately that is very lame, rather tallentless but very fun and catchy at the same time. Andrew W.K. his song writing sucks but damn its fun shit.

A brave man will not live forever but a coward will never live.

I like a lotta music, but I listen to punk when I'm sitting on my computer or jamming out, but I listen to rap when I'm hanging out with my buddies or when I wanna get in a groove because of the beat.. I dont like much rap only like Big L, Stan Spit, DITC, AG, Lost Boyz, Xzibit etc. eminem is cool shit tho

'Don't like hesh - Don't like rap - kicked ol' sally cos she fat - I'm a jerk I'm a punk took a shower cos I stunk - smoked a bong killed a cat - had my nuts attacked by rats dad got nude - I wore a thong - for a hobby I make bombs' Tom DeLounge

well I think it's clear that most people can jam to most music when forced. The fact is nothing gives you the feeling like some ill lyrics over a sick mysterious backround beat. I mean, with punk you get just punk (osunds like a horny crack addict rubbing and screaming) this isnt always bad... but with rap you get the jams that you can just rock too (ex.cormega- therapy), the chill beats that can calm you down for a smoke session/beers all night or chillen with a bitty(ex.2pac- Life goes on), then the hardcore shit that will get you soo pissed and just gets the adrenaline going(ex.Big Pun- off with his head)... my vote is rap all the way-

when hell freezes over, I will ski there too

Neither. Classic Rock.

AC/DC, Aerosmith, Black Crowes, Steve Miller Band, Van Halen, Cheap Trick, Kiss, ZZ Top, Def Leppard, Black Sabbath, Motley Crue, Bon Jovi, and of course Bob Dylan.

By the way, props to Boyd Easley for having sick music in Propeganda and Happy Dayz. (Kickstart My Heart by Motley Crue, and Detroit Rock City by KISS)

Keep that shit coming

Nothing is better. I love hip hop and I owe alot of good things in my life to it. Now punk could bring you the same joy hip hop brings me so it would be pretty fucking ignorant for me to tell you hip hops way better wouldn't it??

it all depends on what kind of spirit your mood is in. shit if i sitting back tokin on a fat blunt with some b.c. i want something fucking chill and intellegent like hip hop. i think when i am high that is the only time i really can relate and fully understand hip hop. but when i am throwing some brews back i get it more of a 'i want to go fuck stuff up' mood, so i throw in the punk and try to bring down the system one beer at a time, or sometimes two. good music is good music, be it punk, hip hop, rock, whatever. but we can all agree that there is really shitty music in every genre.

IT's kinda hard to compare the 2...cuz most people who like rap, will hate punk, and vize versa(at least that's what it seems like 2 me), i'd have to say Punk rock all the way though!!!

Green Day, Rancid, Blink 182, Good Charlotte ( The new CD's not so punk, but the 1st is!) , i love it all!!!

you totally can't compare the two. when i'm in the pipe, hip hop usually gets me goin. in the park, punk. but all mountain, anything goes, just depends on the conditions.

Just Huck It.

some punks good some raps good. A little bit of everything is good if you ask me. I'd have to say Weird Al is my favorite singer. He gives a nice mix of everything.

There is nothing motherly about mother nature. Except for her big mountainous breasts.

Veteran, I'd agree w/ u most, but not w/ most of the bands. Dylan is sweet, but zeppelin, hendrix, cream, SRV, grateful dead, phish, allman bros., guns n roses, and rush are awesome. Also, for hanging out, u gotta get blues/jazz. Put in some BB king, john lee hooker, al dimeola, miles davis, muddy waters, then you're really chilling. And by the way, Detroit Rock City is Ted Nugent, not KISS.
