Punk/Ska sucks

Seriously....I like punk, and I like ska, but punk/ska and ska/punk are garbage. For instance, The Toasters are a great ska band that has been around for years, but only serious rudies listen to them. Bands like Less Than Jake and others ruin ska music, people hear that crap and say it is ska.

As for the punk side of it, I like a lot of streetcore( agnostic Front, The Casualties, Lars Frederikson and the Bastards). That stuff is punk. The thing is, people walk around calling shit like sum 41 or green day or even blink 182(shudder) punk music.

Who agrees with me?

Oh, and one more thing, The Weakerthans or Get up Kids do not play emo!!!!!If you wanna hear emo, listen to Mary Lou Lord or Elliott Smith!

who gives a fuck? OMG I said I was listening to ska but really I meant it was ska/punk/emo/bullshit/pop/rock/core/balls. It doesnt matter what it's called at all.
 
^yea no shit, people are way to worried about being core on this site. I dont give a fuck what im listening too, or who made it. I dont care if they are sellouts or if they copied someone elses style, as long as im liking the music i dont care what it is.
 
i like less than jake for what it is. its happy third wave ska. if you want to be all core nad shit...really core, listen to like, the skatalites.
 
deux palabras- operation ivy. discussion over. although i actually do admit most of it sucks. but i dont like casualties or that stuff either.... but will not go into that since you do have a pogues icon.
 
OI! Ska sucks, ska revival isn't cool you stupid fucks. The bands are only in it for the bucks. And if you don't beleive me you're a schmuck.
 
ugh, genre arguments...who gives a fuck, if it floats your boat, it floats your boat, all about personal preference in this day and age
 
I think you are a bit confused. You don't hate punk/ska and ska/punk. You hate the poppy shitty versions of those genres, and rightfully so. As others have pointed out, Operation Ivy is a perfect example of a punk/ska band that is nothing like those crappy bands that you hate.
 
Ok everyone, HERE'S HOW IT IS:

People put too much of an emphasis on the label/genre of their music. A lot of the music listed in the first post could be labeled with theh prefix "pop". That doesn't mean it sucks- it's just mainstream or POPULAR.

But if you like it, who the hell cares?
